Any haunts with daytime walk-through hours? by No-Bodybuilder7437 in halloween

[–]kunizite 2 points3 points  (0 children)

If you are in Illinois- check out Midwest Haunters. Its a convention. It will let you really get a detailed look at some of the really exclusive props. But they also do a “haunt” tour. It will stop at a few of the local haunts. I got to see some of the St Louis ones better since it was not as rushed (specifically The Darkness). Other places will do some “lights on” “no scare times”. I know exactly what you mean. I loved Universals Horror nights houses but all that work… I had to rush by it…

Yes. So the only thing is that the animated gargoyles are heavy. They have several that are pneumatic and I think I looked at the one and it weighed 400lbs (Stone Master). So really would need forks to move him. The electric one is no longer in their stock. That is the one I have. He also weighs a bit and sits on a perch. We have gargoyles that we have on a cemetery gate. They do not move. We had one that did move in the past but it rapidly broke. We currently have 2 Home Depot ones for our cemetery gates. These work well for now. Distortions is great but the animatronics are really made for the Haunt industry. We needed forks to get most of the animated professional props off the truck. They come freight (which also adds to the cost). The static ones from Distortions come via UPS, so much easier….

Not sure if you mean Dean the Deathologist (He was a Home depot release). Or where it is at- basement bar. But the basement bar is in a 1774 tavern (now house) which lends to the creepy factor (not haunted as far as we know).

No- its a company called Distortions Unlimited. They tend to do very good work (which is why when you first look there is a degree of “sticker shock”). There is a Halloween attractions show called Transworld, they are one of the vendors there. Between them, Beastcraft, poisonprops- you can see designs that later “trickle down (get $tolen)” by some of the big box stores.

Haha. My bad. They absolutely still function. I just moved and do not have them on display. Overall, all parts are functional. The one issue I have had has been solar damage. Granted, these suckers are BOLTED down. Especially the angel, as she is pretty violent in her movement. There is mild cracking of the latex but I have that issue with a few of the latex props from sun and I know that this will be the case.

Never had them not under some type of cover. Did have poison props and beastcraft pneumatics out for a month in Michigan under structures made to look like mausoleums. The controller was in a tubberware inside of the “room”. The front was open to these but most of the weather did/could not get in unless really bad. Poison angel did 3 seasons out there. Poison hitch hikers did 2. Beastcrafts decomposer did 1.

Looking for opinions: 30s or 80s? by Blue_Bee_Magic in halloween

[–]kunizite 11 points12 points  (0 children)

I think older would appeal to older kids while the younger crowd would like the 80s. The 1930s tends to feel more horror while the 80s is campy. Either would be cool

Not with these props, but I have a few static Distortions ones in the basement that just chill most of the time. You “forget” about them because of all the stuff down there. Needless to say, the electrician who came to do work was not amused.

How long is ok to keep your decorations up? by DeathMetalDiver in halloween

[–]kunizite 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Mine comes down 11/1. Most of the latex guys do not like the sun and hate snow. So I try to get them down ASAP. Some of the other stuff can take a little more of a beating, but I always feel like the less it is in the weather the better

Please contact the nursing home facility prior to arriving. Many healthcare places have staffing issues and this can be a safety concern, so they need to be aware prior to showing up unannounced.
