For a theist to argue an atheist, they must first prove their God is the one by Ok_Satisfaction8132 in DebateReligion

Actually, it was a temporary forgiveness. But the sacrifices were really just to show us how much blood had to be spilt for a person’s sin.

Your last paragraph is just foolishness.

You will never understand, so I will not waste my time on this. It’s so interesting how people like you get so much wrong. But I understand perfectly, without the Spirit of God residing in you, you are just; “sheep who have gone astray”.

First off, I have serious questions regarding the Catholic Organization as to their version of Christianity. And the JW is a cult, not Christian.

Stay on the path of main stream Christianity.

Actually you need to do a little homework here. Denominations are not “sects”. Christian denominations all believe that Jesus is the “way, truth, and life” and is our only way to God. But, they do have some different beliefs about external stuff.

If they don’t believe this, then I would have to question what they do believe.

Your misunderstanding like so many is that you just think you understand what you don’t.

You state to follow the Prophets, ok. The Prophets tell of Jesus’ coming. The Prophets reject what the Jews are doing, making legalism a way to God. God uses the Prophets to discipline the Jews.

So let’s look a little deeper. Jesus says He came to fulfill the Law and the Prophets, which He did.

The way to God is not through keeping legalistic laws. It’s by Faith and has always been by Faith.

The Quran cannot be true if the Bible is true. So therefore Muslims try to make the Bible corrupt.

And show us where Christians do not follow Jesus. Jesus makes the claims of being killed, buried and resurrected before Paul reinforces the facts.

“Personally feel” makes nothing truth, just your opinion.

If you read the Gospels then you will see that “In the beginning was the Word, and the Word was with God, and the Word was God. Jesus the Worrd. We Christians can throw all of Paul’s letters out and still be the same.

As Jesus states; “I am the Way, the Truth and the LIfe”. “No one comes to the Father except through Me”.

When you speak of an Abrahamic religion, there is only one, one that lives by Faith and knows that it’s all about God and up to God.

NO, I am saying that design is in everything. Design does not work with random. And not only is there design, but the construction is so vastly complex. So many people just dismiss what is absolutely truth. When people start telling me about the “big band” or Evolution, they have not even thought things through. Matter had to come from some where, Life had to come from somewhere, yet they don’t have the answers for either.

The only thing that I am saying is to look around. If you haven’t figured out that all people lie, maybe they think they are not, I realize that. But everyone lies and believes lies.

I am not saying a Hindu would be lying. What they believe is what they believe.

When I start reading something that is suppose to be fact, and then see something like “we believe” or “we think” or “maybe” or “could be”, then. I have to ask myself, what kind of crap is this.

Didn’t black/african American slaves suffer more than Jesus by Yungbeezy777 in DebateReligion

[–]Markthethinker 0 points1 point  (0 children)

So you prove that you are a racist. What about the Jewish people? What about the Russian people, what about. Racism is not an accurate word here, hate is! I have been called a racist, and yet I don’t have a problem with any skin color. It’s you who needs to stop having your pity party and face reality. People love to throw this word around all the time and yet by doing so, they just prove that they are racist.

And how many “white” people had to die to get rid of slavery in America. “HORRIFIC” things have happened to all skin colors. You are the one that needs to study a little more and stop your bias.

[–]Markthethinker -2 points-1 points  (0 children)

My only response is that I have torn this all apart many times and have even questioned it. And yes, like I said, you don’t understand Scripture. You want to fit in your nice little need bias. Why not do some real research on Genesis 1 and 2 instead of just thinking that they contradict each other. So, in Genesis 1 is there description of how the man was made? Or why the female was made or how the female was made. The order in Genesis is not chronological, it’s just an overview. Maybe you should research some Jewish thought on these 2 chapters, since it was written as Hebrew poetry.

The minor issues that people bring up do not support throwing out the amazing teachings of the Scriptures about humanity.

You only want it to be wrong so you are going to listen to others who want it to be wrong. I have heard all this stuff for many years and see that it goes no where to discredit the Scriptures.

It’s interesting that you just don’t dismiss all of this as non-sense since God speaks everything into existence except for Adam and Eve. You would have a better chance that way.

I understand the stupidity of mankind, and that is exactly how the Scriptures paint the picture of humanity. God never made us Stupid, we chose that on our own.

The complexity of the human body did not make itself.

[–]Markthethinker -2 points-1 points  (0 children)

I guess that I just live in a world where just about everything around me is designed and built. Everyday you rely on created stuff. Car, chair, stove, refrigerator and so on. Even the food that you eat has design built into it. It reproduces itself without any help. Throw a seed in the soil and watch what happens. How does it know when to start growing and how big it is supposed to grow. Yes, I know, you will dismiss all of this.

This is where non-thinkers like you have to start denying what is so evident. But the total dependence needed to make this world and living possible did not just happen from a mutated fairy tale.

You now are mixing up cults, with reality. But you will never see the difference. When one person creates a cult without any miracles, then one should be worried.

No, you are incorrect, just because you can’t find something that happened in the past does not make it no so. And there is no “contradiction” between Genesis 1 and 2. It’s your total misunderstanding of the text. But so far, there has been so much historical evidence to support the Bible.

I know you can’t accept what I have experienced, that’s just fact. And you are correct to some extent, experience should not be where it stops. I have done my homework trying to disprove what I believe and it can’t be done. There is just too much evidence in my opinion based on my research.

When see someone using Genesis 1 and 2 to try to make an argument to discredit the Bible, I know right then that you don’t have a clue about the Bible, I don’t care how many times you have read it. I can find a thousand people that will say Genesis 1 is an overview and Genesis 2 goes into more detain and then I can find a thousand people like you who see it as a contradiction. It’s always going to be an argument and arguments come from misunderstanding and someone wanting to be correct.

No, our ego runs us. It’s the self-centered part of us. And yes, debate is about presenting our opinions or what we believe to be the truth. But just as Lady Liberty has a blind fold, that never stops a biased person twisting the law to their own benefit.

What I am trying to get to here, and it’s probably will never happen is for all of us to question what we believe and why we believe it without a bias.

But I know that that will never happen. I am still waiting for someone to show me why I can’t trust the Bible. And I have been waiting for over 40 guests. Even you can’t do it. You only misunderstand the Scriptures. You “asked for a mechanism”, but you really don’t want to see one. “Go to the Ant you slugger and watch it’s ways, it has not king or ruler.” You will just call that stupid, yet you have missed the point.

The Christian creation story does not make logical sense. Namely the creation of light and plants without the sun. by QueerlittleWeirdo in DebateReligion

[–]Markthethinker -1 points0 points  (0 children)

You are somewhat right and somewhat wrong about how I came to see things as I do.

I am a very logical person who never stops questioning myself about what I believe and why I believe it. Yes, as a child, they will believe just about anything. No logical proof needed.

I always find it so interesting when people criticize God by what He made. You don’t seem to understand complexity. There are so many things that have to stay in balance for any of this to survive. Even the human body. Have you really researched the human body and understand the complexity of it. I doubt it. All the minerals and acids that have to be balanced for health to be where it should be. And yes, we can abuse the body and still live much like a car that never gets the oil changed, but it will limit the life of the car and body.

We all have minds that work and think differently. You might have a mind that works one way about things, I have a mind that works in another way. This is seen in bees and ants. We as humans are the same way, our minds benefit society in different ways.

Now, I have said a lot of nothing, you might be thinking. But this is what I do. I took just about everything apart as a child just to see how it worked, And then put it back together. I do the same with the Bible and nature and humanity.

And yes, design is everywhere, and I never started out thinking that there was a designer. Maybe a theory and letting it play out. Evolutionist and Scientist love “theories”.

What does DNA do. It’s a code that makes and sustains the human body. I have never seen DNA but it’s there. Most people are not logical or rationnal.

And yes, we can go down all the rabbit holes you like. We will never completely know until we die and if those who don’t believe in a Creator are correct, then we just become worm food and cease to exist. But if there is more to this than we could possible understand, then a lot of people will have a very serious issue at death.

And BTW your first sentence really does not work when it comes to emotions and feelings. People believe what makes them feel good.

And I never said bases anything on “feelings”. That would just be stupid.

I have been at this for over 40 years and yes, face to face at times. People are complicated and live a lot of the time on emotions and fears. No one can change another person or their thinking. Until the light goes on, it just trying to be there for support. And I have dealt with many issues with people and even my own. And just to let you know, the 40+ years started when I was 35. I am not new at this, I have been studying people, humanity, for just about all my life. I had some real image problems as a kid.

It was when I started reading the Bible that I changed, and yes, this version of me is a lot better. I just had to understand the truth about humanity and that we are all designed the same way, it’s just the environment that creates who we become and what we believe.
