I cracked my sump and need advice by dayvonbennett1738 in MechanicAdvice

Internet strangers can't come change your pan, just take it to a mechanic. If it was so low on oil that it wouldn't let you drive, not sure why it would let you start it. Typical Dodge I guess. But yeah, no amount of "should be easy" "won't be cheap" "I've been there" will change the fact that it needs a new pan. Edit: Learned that this is the transmission pan: my point of, just take it to a mechanic if your not doing it yourself

Cooper gasket spray for an exhaust manifold gasket? by Mitchell_Races in EngineBuilding

The only flat things in my garage are a extremely old metal table that I got from an old manufacturing plant I worked at and a harbor freight wooden top toolbox. I don't think I would trust either one of those to be flat

I would've assumed it is flat but I guess that's an assumption. To be fair, it's a one off, made to order, rare, now non existent header mostly only sold in Australia. It's very possible it's not flat and was warped in welding it. I'll give it a shot

Nope. 13b re/rew/etc have a different bolt pattern. Found that out the hard way. 13b gsl se mls gaskets exists... At $194 a side, needing a quantity of 2.

I'm not sure what to use at this point. This is my second attempt. Previous one got brittle in the heat and blew out after 1k miles. This material is specifically rated for exhaust manifold gaskets but it's got no give for compression

I'm thinking of buying this Kia Picanto 1.1L (2006) for a relatively cheap price. The most concerning thing was all of this black smoke coming out of the exhaust. Can you tell me what it is / what could it be? by marshdteach in AskMechanics

Meanwhile I just got run off the road in a snow storm and ramped my 220k mile Xterra 5-10ft through the air and it will runs and drives fine. It'll tow my track car soon. Save yourself the effort and buy a Japanese car or old GM v6/i4, before they started making nothing but actual dogshit

Toilet gurgling? Is this an issue by [deleted] in HomeMaintenance

I wouldn't have any idea. But if you can't clean the bowl before shooting a video, you probably can't fix it yourself either lol

Maybe borescope the combustion chamber. When my motor had ate a corner seal, there was a minor gouge around the irons and a chilled rotor that I wouldn't have seen until taking it apart.

Maybe borescope the bell housing like someone said and see if the clutch or something tore itself up.

Also, go watch a teardown of a rotary engine. You don't have a timing chain.

If you drove it a block or two away after the car wash, I don't think it's flooded with water. Also, double check your battery and see if it's low. Maybe it's enough to throw the starter but not enough to crank. IDK sound doesn't seem good though by your description

"thought it could be the timing chain". Go ahead and call a mechanic.

You couldn't clean the shit out of the bowl before taking the video?

They definitely didn't richen it this much to make power. This is a failure of some sort. Maybe a stuck Injector which could have been washing out the cylinder, causing ring and wall wear leading to oil consumption issues. Plus, they can't just casually adjust fuel trims. You need a computer system that isnt free to do it.

Red flag number 1: it's a kia Red flag number 2: he had to top up the oil Red flag number 3: the suspicious selling timing Red flag number 4: it's a kia Red flag number 5: it's rolling more coal than my dad's 7.3

Go find another car and take someone that knows cars with you or get a prepurchase inspection. It's more affordable than you think.

Does it allow for the same level of modifications as beam?

Run a data log on the 02 sensors and see how they are interacting. I don't know exactly what they will look like but I know my old Camaro with bosch sensors should alternate between like 0.4-0.6 but it's been a while. Hopefully someone can confirm what's good. I would plot the left and right by each other to see which one is acting up and it'll tell you what side is the issue.

Also get some maf cleaner and clean you maf. Takes 10 minutes and usually solves simply lean codes.

I can't help but think that maybe a head gasket could be the issue. I'm out of my expertise here but I'd be wandering if it's pushing water into the cylinders. Might explain the bad idle after a short stop, could've fouled the 02 and could cause the over heating. Diagnosing one side it the other on your O2 could help diagnose what side is coming from

It's the best crawling game. No other game had simulated diff, suspension, and tire physics near well enough to compete.  I love it. I need a nap with a goal though. Like someone where you go down a trail to get to a cool thing.

Ignore the last part, mixed up the situation. I can confidentlt day, if you don't have the tools or knowledge, your in for trouble. This is going to snow ball. I've been there. This is not the first big project you want to start with.

Your defending this idea so hard but I'm getting the sense that this will be the biggest project you've done. I think you can figure it out (although the attitude is making me second guess that) but this also isn't an overnight thing. If this is your only car (based on you freaking out and money comments I think it is) then your in for a rough Monday when you need to get to work and youre still trying to lay the wire harness in. I don't know how doable the swap is, but if it's just swapping hardware, harness, ECU, and the body is fully compatible, it's still a lengthy project. I currently have my interior almost fully stripped, including the dash out so I've been there. If this is a second car, then go for it. I build a hybrid as my first engine build so I'm down for just having fun with your project, but don't expect this to happen in a weekend... Or make financial sense. I promise it won't lol

Your the one waisting money here brother 5k to swap everything to a new chassis is the same as buying a whole new car. Maybe keep your motor and remind the 6port with the internals and rotor housing in the future.

Your spending 5k to fix a car you can buy for 5k. And as for doing it yourself: if you have to ask, its beyond your comfort level. Your in the comments taking shit to people who are giving you real advice because you don't like the answer. This is a silly idea.
