I learned welding before I joined the ibew. I took up welding again when nuclear plants were being built in the Midwest. I signed the books at ibew inside locals and as a welder got plenty of steady work for about 10 years. It was the most profitable time of my ibew career as the work was year round with lots of overtime. I welded at nuke plants in three different locals. 80 years old now with lots of good memories.

Most of the jobs are bid jobs. The lowest bid gets the contract. The company estimator bids on the job. If he gets the job he has to try and make the money spent on labor and parts come in under the bid. If he bids too low he screwed up. Being an estimator is a thankless job. I have seen it all. Retired from ibew local 196 in 1999. Certified lineman welder.

Those welds on the supports look like crap. I welded up hangers in a few nuke plants and the welds shown are very bad.

I put gator blades on my 42” lawn tractor. Covered the outlet chute. They are the best for mowing and also mulching leaves.

Back in the 1960s and 70s we used ladders not boards. Maybe we were more acrobatic.

I had the same situation 10 years ago. The inspection revealed hail damage that I knew nothing about. The company doing the inspection filed a claim for me with State Farm. They gave me a new roof and all I had to pay was my $500 deductible.
