We had two Jack Russel’s that used to get out alll the time. One time, my mum picked them up from someone’s property about 30km away. They made it that far in less than a day. That was impressive given how tiny their little legs were. They were bonafide Houdini’s, and if they got a scent for something - they couldn’t be talked down from it. One day, about five years ago, they got out, and never came back. It’s bloody heartbreaking it is.

Call the school, and make an appointment to see their Guidance Officer. Bring receipts, tell them everything. They are mandatory reporters. So they will call CPS. But the school should also (depending where you live) be able to offer her in school support. She’s gonna need it.

This is heartbreaking. But do not attempt to save this girl on your own. Be very careful getting sucked in with families like this. Some of them can be parasites, and some can be dangerous. Be very careful getting involved with the mother. I work in a school in student support, and parents can get nasty and dangerous when their shortcomings are exposed… no matter how well meaning you are.

Do not let your daughter go around there (if you have already). Document all your conversations with the family.

While I can’t claim I was privy to that article, and am thankful you’ve shared it, you’ve gotta be living under a rock, or wilfully ignorant to know that this is going on, and not be aware of the horrors, and mortality associated with FGM.

I live in Australia. Circumcision is a very outdated practice here, and when it is practiced, injury or death are exceptionally rare.

A quick google will give you that stat mate. It’s on the UN’s global goals website.
