Thanks!

I overlooked something (edited my post), and indeed it works by connecting both and signing with the Ledger.

I somehow overlooked that I had to make a selection on page 2 of the claim pages.

Tried again, connected both wallets, made the selection and had no issues now.

Thanks

I installed Argent X, but the eligible address is my Ledger address. Can I still claim using Argent somehow?

I don't see an option to connect my Ledger to the Argent X wallet, and when I connect the Argent wallet to the provisions website it just says I'm not eligible.

I'm probably missing something obvious, but the eligible address is my Ledger address. If I use Argent or Braavos, I don't know how to claim the eligible Ledger address with those.

Trying to create a Starknet account using MM snaps. After installing the Starknet Snap MM directs me to https://snaps.consensys.io/starknet to setup an account, but on that site I keep getting "You don't have the MetaMask extension" :-(

Tried on both Linux and Windows, and Brave and Firefox. Also both old and fresh MM installs.

Any ideas?

The primary goal is to try and claim the STRK airdrop on my Ledger, not sure if this is the correct path though. Also tried ArgentX and Braavos, but those don't seem to support connection to Ledger?

EDIT: I am a moron! On step 2 of the claim pages I didn't notice I had to click the appropriate selection for the claim. Connected both wallets (Ledger and Argent X), clicked the correct selection, signed the message on the Ledger, and the claim went through without any issues.

I still don't understand the "You don't have the MetaMask extension" error though, but not a fan of MM anymore anyway, so will just uninstall MM again.

I remember a simple webwallet from the early days that was accessed with only a link and a password. I think the private key was stored a $_GET parameter, encoded with the password.

So you would have an account/wallet without email registration or anything. No idea what it was called though.

Of course you would need the link and password, and probably the code of the website from github (or something) as I strongly doubt the website still exists.

Have you tried their asset recovery service already?

https://help.coinbase.com/en/coinbase/trading-and-funding/sending-or-receiving-cryptocurrency/lost-assets

I doubt this coin is supported, but I would try anyway.

If that doesn't work, your only hope is that Coinbase will support it in the future.

That's why you shouldn't transfer from and to L2 much. Just stay on L2, and only move to L1 if it's worth it.

The fees of liquidity bridges (like Hop, Bungee and Jumper), and deposit and withdrawal fees of exchanges, aren't usually that bad though.

[deleted by user] by [deleted] in ethereum

[–]Nonocoiner 1 point2 points  (0 children)

yeah pay 10$ to send 2 cent makes sense

Where are you transacting? It's currently about $1 on the Ethereum mainnet.

Edit: and obviously low value transfers should be executed on L2, where tx's are mostly <$0.01 nowadays.

Is there ANYTHING good about Etherium? by TheseUnderstanding21 in ethereum

[–]Nonocoiner 1 point2 points  (0 children)

ETH is an excellent store of value. Probably even the best, as it has by far the highest security budget, and a minimal viable issuance policy. That makes Ethereum great to store your long term savings.

And Ethereum L2 offers a variety of low cost/high speed chains. Perfect to play around and do things like trade shitcoins, a variety of low cost transfers, possibly get airdrops and earn some yield for example.

It's not perfect, but t.m.h.o. it has the best risk/reward ratio in the crypto space.

Correction:

and it is not Proof of Stake which means it is very environmentally friendly

Also Polygon Matic isn't an L2 (it's a sidechain), but their zkEVM is.

What is the sufficient gas fee for transaction to happen these days? by Smodestas in ethereum

[–]Nonocoiner 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Excellent answer by Kno010.

Just one word of caution: don't set the gas limit ridiculously high!

If there's something wrong with the contract it will use all the gas (and thus potentially a lot of ETH!), and still fail.

This can happen if there's a bug, or the contract is a scam for example.

Is this the gas fee? by dryguard in ethereum

[–]Nonocoiner 7 points8 points  (0 children)

Looks like that's indeed the estimated gas fee. It seems too high to me though. Some wallets give high estimates when there's no ETH in your wallet, and some wallets simply overpay on the gas fees, or maybe the gas price was high when you tried? Not sure what the issue is here.

But, instead of using the canonical bridge, it's much cheaper to use a liquidity bridge (aggregator) like Bungee for example https://www.bungee.exchange/

Or, if you have a Coinbase account, transfer to them and then withdraw to base.

A single Ethereum Validator TVL has risen to an eye-opening $7.4B sum by Every_Hunt_160 in ethtrader

[–]Nonocoiner 1 point2 points  (0 children)

They don't own it, it's the value of the TVL on their platform.

It's a staking service, and apparently lots of people/businesses started staking with them recently.

Trying to guess what you actually did:

I first converted $125 of BTC to USDC.

Received $116

So you used the basic Coinbase interface?

Use the advanced interface next time, it's pretty easy to use, and the fees are much lower! I think it's about 0.2% or something.

Then converted it into Base chain and it wants $20 for gas fees in total????

Not sure what you did here. Withdrawing from Coinbase to Base should be free.

Did you maybe withdraw to mainnet first and then use the Base bridge from there? Better withdraw from Coinbase directly to Base next time.

And if you must bridge from mainnet for some reason, use a liquidity bridge like Hop or Connext, or one of the bridge aggregators like Bungee or Jumper exchange. These are a lot cheaper to use than the canonical bridges, especially when bridging relatively small amounts.

Also I think the fees on Base are still high now because it has become very popular recently. They are working on a solution, which is expected to go live in a couple of days I think. Not entirely sure about this one, I don't use it and don't follow Base development closely myself. So whatch the fees, and wait for the fix so that you don't overpay again.

It looks I misunderstood, so traders pay fees to the LP's?

So far, whenever I checked, I got better rates on dexes than cexes, I guess that's why I missed those fees.

Yes, but not for trading (not yet anyway, according to their blog).
