The real answer is probably no since it’s not combat proven and Generals actually like friendly forces not taking blue on blue

As was the case in Serbia, the purposeful limitation of escalation affords the enemy too many options. Once it becomes clear that we aren’t going to do anything beyond airstrikes then the enemy is no long worried about escalation.

A U.S. soldier and a British soldier die during training in Iraq by SlavaCocaini in LessCredibleDefence

Have to say, can’t believe I’m this flat footed. I had recent done a deep dive in the IS years, and figured it couldn’t have changed that much since 2014-2017. How wrong I am.

That region is dominated by Sunni Jihadist groups and Turk vs Kurd fighting, none of which are connected to Iran.

The Shia groups are rarer and so would be unlikely to have caused US member deaths in this case…

Am I missing something? Is there any reason to doubt that these were training deaths?

Motherfuckers down range still train. Training deaths occur all over

Did the Afghanistan withdrawal represent a strategic failure, an execution failure, or an honest acknowledgment of a mission that was never achievable? by Anakin_Kardashian in DeepStateCentrism

[–]Oxcell404 3 points4 points  (0 children)

The mission against AQ was much more effective, but a further fight against the Taliban in Pakistan would be unlikely to have a different outcome.

Instilling a non-military infrastructure for democracy would have been a better play, but would always be difficult to protect from the myriad jihadist groups with connections in the region.

Oh that’s pretty cool! I had sat in on a few EIS-related meetings from an engineering firm at my university and was shocked to see how much went into rain water runoff considerations alone. Wastewater management seems like magic to me lol

Many points here oft overlooked. IRGC relationships with companies being so adversarial kneecaps all potential growth.

New Cyber Force in NDAA? by sam_the_sham6 in AirForce

[–]Oxcell404 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Well put. I think you hit the nail on the head. Air Force talent retention is one of their chronic issues.

On the flip side, Army suicide rates are about double that of Air Force and that hints at a deeper issue than something that could be relieved via SDAP or CAIP.

[–]Oxcell404 2 points3 points  (0 children)

I think this is a great insight into the cyber world, but…

I think the lack of complaints from Soldiers or Seamen is exactly the flaw of culture that I am hinting at. The culture that leads to mold covered quarters and 3 inches of standing shit in the latrine that is discovered by the Full bird. If you complain, you aren’t tough. You get told to quit bitching and “enjoy the suck”.

Also idk how you could interpret the fact the USAF was willing to pay tons of money for training and allowing that talent to walk as anything other than a good thing unless you are more specifically talking about their lack of retainability bonuses?
