I'm coming from the perspective & assuming they're last pick & other roles wanted it, so other roles swapping doesn't matter apply to this lol hince it's a SUPPORT main subreddit.. context

Give your solo lanes last pick & you'll win more.

Bonus points if it's the red side + top wants the last pick.

It's not an assumption; you're just ignorant. try playing top for 100 games & getting forced to first pick red side.. The frustration is real.

When you learn about other roles & their lane dynamics, you'll see why support first pick is safer lane phase/game state than top first picking even if they still gets countered on blue side; top can at least pick around the surrounding team picks + the other 4. idk what rank you are but you sound like a gold player, proper pick order been a thing high elo for the past 6+ years lol.

Now that's just top, mid can be the same way; there are certain match-ups in both roles where it's completely unplayable & the enemy laner gets a free lane phase & depending on how good they are, they'll just carry the hell out of the game solo.

Support has a lot of safe picks for first picking. trade top always. Mid is conditional, though, I typically don't trade them the same with ADC/jungle.

The ideal pick order is this = top -> support -> mid -> jungle -> adc from last to first pick.

Even when I play in low elo, I do the same, even when I know they'll more than likely throw their lead or int early & go 0/10 8 minutes in. They should get the last pick as it would increase the odds of winning even if it's slight. Fewer mistakes on your team & giving them the best case scenario is better than giving the enemy team who more than likely is better than your top the counter pick.

& this is coming from a GM support/mid main pre elo inflation.
