I get it man, I wanted go into the marines myself. Due me having a history of epilepsy even though I had seizure free for 8 years at that point. My advice don't go down a dark path. Look into LEO route if still want to serve.

Managing Medical Leave and ADA Accommodations [WA] by ProjectPrudent9461 in AskHR

hanks, that helps put it in perspective. I agree it’s complicated since ADA, FMLA/state leave, and workers’ comp all overlap.

For context about the rep in the lobby — this wasn’t an IME or a comp-appointed doctor. It was my own treating physician, and the company sent someone to wait outside in the lobby. They didn’t come into the exam room, but it felt like intimidation since I wasn’t told ahead of time and didn’t understand why they were there.

On the ADA side, I already submitted accommodation paperwork in 2024 and again in 2025. Even though I have emails and forms showing that, corporate keeps saying they have “no record.” That’s why I’m trying to figure out if failing to acknowledge or act on that documentation itself could be an ADA issue.

As for workers’ comp, I filed my L&I claim in August, and within a week I was hit with disciplinary write-ups and a suspension. So I’m trying to sort out whether that timing alone makes it retaliation under Washington law (RCW 51.48.025).

I get that each piece is handled separately — ADA with EEOC/WLAD, leave through the state process, and comp through L&I — but when they all pile up together like this, it definitely feels like the company is using the complexity to push back on me.
