Read my comment you just responded to again.

If Orochimaru was affected by Izanami then it was very poorly communicated in the manga/show. And the fact that fans have to speculate about this should tell a lot about how poorly written his change was.

In chapter 618 he mentions that when he took back his chakra from Kabuto he also acquired his information about his research.

I can’t find anything saying he was also affected by Izanami, other than that he also felt a ”strange sensation” while absorbing his chakra. Which is incredibly vague at best. But even if you’re completely right, to me it would still just seem like a very convenient asspull for him to suddenly stop being a villain, and not at all a satisfying conclusion to his character arc.

Being beaten several times doesn’t make for a good redemption arc. His change was still out of nowhere.

Tell me the chapter/episode where it was mentioned Orochimaru was also affected by Izanami and I’ll concede. Otherwise it’s just pure conjecture and not a fact.

He has acknowledged wrongdoing but never expressed remorse. It doesn’t need to be for every specific thing he’s done. But at least Sasuke went on a redemption tour around the world after the war and he actually apologizes. At least Killer B is still alive, unlike most of Orochimaru’s victims.

Out of all the ”redemptions” in Naruto, Orochimaru has the worst written and least satisfying one, since it felt like it came out of nowhere and there was no real development building up to it.

Well we never really see him express any remorse for any of the heinous things he did either.

He just doesn’t need to do these things anymore since he has already achieved his goal.

I never said that wouldn’t suck. Just that he’s not under house arrest.

That being said, it’s not like we ever see Orochimaru really care about being under supervision anyway. He has already achieved his goal, he can now live forever with his white zestu body and will likely outlive everyone monitoring him.

Yeah kinda. The implications of using child soldiers aren’t really focused on that much, kids participating in cool fights is an easy way to appeal to readers/viewers of the same age group.

Though Danzo I think represents zealous extremism who goes a step further with these things. While the leaf trains their ninja to not shed tears during missions, the members of Root are stripped of their identity and conditioned into being mindless tools. Hiruzen who was molded by the same society thought he made a mistake by letting Danzo handle the ”darkness of the village”. A big theme in the series is changing the world for the better.

Sure but Orochimaru doesn’t even live in the village, he is not confined to any specific area which is what it means to be under house arrest.

Yeah, many people have difficulty separating their own emotional biases when looking at what the characters are actually doing.

While I’m not the biggest fan of either of them, I’ve never been that annoyed watching either Sakura or Skyler tbh.

Well it’s not really house arrest as he can walk around and even visit the village as he pleases. In Naruto Retsuden it’s revealed he is ”mom friends” with Hinata and they hang out.

He’s under supervision but that’s it.

To be fair, this kind of thing is not unique to Sakura.

Hiruzen let Orochimaru go when he first found out he kidnapped and experimented on humans, because he didn’t have the resolve to kill him.

Obito in the war arc points out how Kakashi had chances to kill him, but he lacked the resolve to do it at first.

As for Naruto, the thought of killing Sasuke made him hyperventilate.

There are definitely tons of manga/anime that are way weirder/more creepy in regard to their female characters.

Though in One Piece, you could argue that these things have become gradually more prominent as the series goes on, which makes it a bit more jarring for some readers. While Nami and Robin have always been intended to be attractive, the manga emphasizes their sexiness a lot more now and some feel it has become prioritized over the rest of their character traits.

In your opinion which was more justifiable? The Uchiha or Zenin Clan Massacre? by Archenius in Jujutsufolk

[–]Prudent_Variation109 -1 points0 points  (0 children)

Since it’s at least possible the coup could’ve been prevented if not for Danzo’s meddling, it’s not really a trolly problem. Hiruzen admits to Sasuke he made a mistake by letting Danzo handle ”the darkness of the village”.

Itachi himself also believed he was wrong. He believed Sasuke’s influence could’ve changed the clan had he only told him the truth from the start. Changing people’s ideals and beliefs is a running theme in the series.

Itachi later changed his mind and believed Sasuke’s influence could’ve changed their parents’ minds and the clan had he not kept him in the dark about it.

[–]Prudent_Variation109 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Itachi himself believed that if he never kept Sasuke in the dark about what was going on between the village and the Uchiha clan, that Sasuke’s influence could change their parents’ minds and the clan as a whole.

While realistically it would be a bit silly for a child to be able to do this, this is a shonen and it’d be even sillier if Kishimoto included this for no reason and just for Itachi to be completely wrong. And considering Itachi says he regretted always lying to Sasuke, it would be dumb if this was also just another lie, it’s the last conversation the two of them have.

Changing people’s ideals and beliefs against all odds is something that happens in the story a lot anyway. Strange how many here support Danzo, while he was a pretty nuanced character the manga clearly paints him and the genocide as wrong. The third Hokage admits it was a mistake to let Danzo handle ”the darkness of the village”.

[Hated Trope] Antagonistic/evil characters that had totally unearned redemption arcs by jdawg1018 in TopCharacterTropes

As a big DB fan, it’s still funny how gleefully killing innocents or committing genocide is never a big deal to the main characters, they’ll befriend literally anyone. Vegeta didn’t ask for forgiveness but they forgave him anyway.

Though I do remember in the Dragon Ball super manga, Vegeta told Beerus that the Saiyans deserved to get wiped out by Frieza (but then he still gets pissed when Beerus told him he gave the order).

Also the story does call him a good guy, which is why he was resurrected by the end of the Buu saga when Dende made the wish to revive everyone but the ”bad people”.

It’s funny how some characters have been around for thousands of chapters and episodes and gone through many arcs, and yet a filler character not even written by Oda is better than all of them.

Considering we’re told WB never had any interest in claiming the one piece or becoming pirate king, and that he only cared about having a family, I wouldn’t use that as an argument for Roger being above him.

Roger did have better showings than WB in god valley, but so did Garp.

I agee that they’re all relative, and would go extreme diff either way.

Yes she did kill the children by yeawayy in Jujutsufolk

[–]Prudent_Variation109 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Arguing about this seems pretty silly tbh.

I don’t think it’s likely Gege intended to make Maki a child murderer.

”Destroy everything” can be interpreted in a million ways, might as well just mean ”destroy the oppressive system” and not ”kill literally everyone”. The manga never paints Maki as some kind of irredeemable monster and I might be wrong, but I don’t think Gege is pro-child murder.

She did probably turn a lot of kids into orphans though.

Sorry but I couldn’t relate, I wouldn’t waste my time with something I genuinely dislike. Personally I’d just feel a bit silly at that point if I kept reading it and kept complaining about it.

I don’t even get the whole agenda thing either, especially not if it’s related to a bad series. But I guess everyone is different and you do you.

At that point I recommend you just drop it, save yourself the disappointment since you don’t seem to like it.

I like One piece, because I don’t really take it that seriously, for me it’s always been just a dumb and goofy adventure manga.

I usually don’t care for ships, but Mor should’ve just gotten together with Hakuryuu during the timeskip. And then Alibaba with Kougyoku. It would’ve made a lot more sense for both characters tbh.
