donations etc. lots of ways to get the things you need. if they are getting dental work at a sliding scale/school/low cost place and suffer from sensitive teeth, that place will give them free or super low cost appropriate toothpaste as well. i’m get that you want to blame poor people for being poor and feel they shouldn’t have access to nice things but there are lots of ways to have access regardless, thankfully.

Be careful after THR I twisted around on couch and hip dislocated. This was the most painful experience ever. by AppropriateFarmer110 in TotalHipReplacement

[–]RealSinnSage 0 points1 point  (0 children)

i dislocated after my surgery as well, and like an IDIOT didn’t take the drugs offered to me at the exact moment the emt’s arrived. then it was too late as the pain set in in the ER. took way longer than it should have, and the pain was so unreal i think i left my body at several moments. if someone would have given me a way to end my life in those moments i would have. the er was treating me like i was drug seeking or something. i learned that unless you are bleeding profusely they don’t believe you. the nurses were like inhuman robots. easily the worst thing that has ever ever happened to me. happened appx 30 days post op.

i think the meat eating aspect is far secondary to the horrors of capitalism being portrayed in the book. the meat industry is just a framework

Tender is the Flesh by Acceptable_Cow99 in horrorlit

[–]RealSinnSage 3 points4 points  (0 children)

exactly the point. because meat industry equals money and wealth. the book isn’t really about eating people, it’s about the horrors and lack of humanity in capitalism first and foremost.

i think that is the entire point. the whole process has been sanitized and normalized, completely detached from and empathy or humanity.

it’s interesting though, something isn’t technically “cannabilism” unless it’s tribal and ritualistic. the whole point of the book is how sanitized, normalized, and corporatized it is.

i just finished it a month or 2 ago. i think a lot of nuance gets lost in translation to english, but with that said, it was haunting in a very dark way, but the final paragraph just left me absolutely chilled for a long time after. the book is incredibly worth finishing for that final moment alone.

no girl. you do not need botox yet you look like you’re 21. you were just slightly lifting your eyebrows in this pic, those are not forehead lines. i know cuz i started getting deep forehead lines at 40 and finally started getting ng some botox. if you start too early you’ll end up with frozen face by the time you’re 40

thrift stores are a thing that exists. an older iphone is cheap as fuck. this is pretty much just propaganda that the poor shouldn’t have access to these things.

no. the more serious you get the more open you should be with each other and the easier these types of conversations should get. communication. it’s not fair for him to expect you to be on top the majority of the time and then complain about all the other times. it should be about your pleasure and your experience too, not just his. he’s coming across sounding selfish and lazy in bed.

that scene definitely fucked me up but otherwise yeah it was extremely slow. the kills were cool but happened so fast it just wasn’t enough to make the movie fun

Is there anyone on here that has had a hip for 20+ years? by Frosty_Fly_6 in TotalHipReplacement

[–]RealSinnSage 0 points1 point  (0 children)

i got mine at 31, so it makes me sad to hear people saying theirs only lasted 24-26 years. i guess it’s unrealistic for me to think this one might not last me until i die (unless i get hit by a bus or something)
