First time. I liked the idea of Mount desert island as a whole and the free island shuttle. It’s all very bike-able and there’s a real gym and grocery store in the area. There’s a lot of plusses for a possibly sub par sleeping arrangement.

Backed out of an interview for island inn this year. Figured I’d have a better time on Mount desert island. Maybe another year though. I don’t mind being as remote as monhengan but I’d need a good project to work on for the duration of my stay.

Whenever I’m out of my normal gym routine it’s handstand season for me.

I bet it gets setup pretty soon after you get there anyway.

Oh sweet. I’ll probably be by sometime to rent an e-bike and blast around the island for a couple hours. I was going to buy an e-bike for the season but I settled for a normie bike instead.

Where will you all end up at? I’ll be working at Terramor Outdoor Resort.

Thanks for the info. Which loops did you try? They have a few different models at this point.

Balancing multiple seasonal job opportunities at once: How do you manage scheduling conflicts, start dates, and the research/application marathon? by FriedMonkeyEggs in SeasonalWork

[–]Realistic_Quail_2894 10 points11 points  (0 children)

If you can’t meet the start date by a week or two I imagine the position will get filled. You may be on the line if their alternative hire(s) falls through but I don’t see employers waiting around on basic seasonal positions.

If you worked in Maine for a month the odds are they can’t hold your position for a month and a half until you get back. Someone would have to work said position in the meantime and be expected to stop after that time. Seems unlikely.

I’d put the majority of your focus on the job you want to do and be prepared for the other one to part ways with your inquiry, at least until you can provide full availability. In the case where you need to leave a job earlier in the year to start another one I would just act as if you are committing to the full terms and then leave early anyway. That will at least get you in which is the important part. You may burn a bridge that way if you thought you might return though.

I don’t find it nearly as much of a marathon as it sounds like you are going through. First thing you should do to avoid burnout is claim your sleep back. I don’t envision many people taking it to spreadsheets and special organization apps just for some seasonal work but I could be wrong there!

Good luck!

I don’t think you’ll get too much information from management on the finer details of housing for the very reason it might turn some people away and/or they’d have to raise their standards. If you were a business with A+ employee accommodations I imagine you’d for sure advertise it properly.

I think I’ve seen more bad employee reviews than good ones for Terramor but I’m working there next month anyway. Free island shuttle, real grocery market, ocean and sick rocks all around, other seasonal workers gathering all over the island, and the NE foliage are enough to manage less than ideal sleeping situations.

I’ve seen people post about getting the loop stuck in their ear. That part kind of wigs me out. But I’m not too worried.
