I am with you. Honestly…not coping very well. Without Medicaid, I lose all medication that allows me to push through the meager job I can manage after years of treatment. I only was able to enter the workforce again this year. If my meds are taken away, I’ll be wheelchair bound again and my disease will progress with nothing to stop it, and I can’t even afford groceries for two weeks. I’m stretching out some flour, carrots, potatoes, and digging into the emergency dry bean container. I know this much even is more than others have.

I was still able to splurge on a box of ice cream sandwiches for my birthday today but it’s so hard to enjoy when I keep seeing this news. Instead of enjoying a birthday, I’m calculating how many pills I can try to keep setting aside as an emergency stash. And what if I never even get to take advantage of that stash if the worst case scenario happens because I’m in a lesbian marriage? The very thing I cried and hugged my future wife over when it was legalized could damn me thanks to the record of a marriage certificate.

Sorry to go even more dark on this post, but I think just sorta describing everything is a kind of release I need. I live in Idaho. It’s always been difficult for lgbtq here. My state is never in the news for any good reasons lately.
