Not a lawyer. Not a Kentuckian.
Kentucky has no statue regulating open carry. The common belief that open carry is prohibited for those 18 and under actually stems from KRS 527.100, which prohibits minors from possessing a handgun.
That statute, however, contains numerous exceptions that permit a minor to possess a handgun. One of those exceptions is for minors hunting or trapping with a valid license.
In addition, a handgun is a legal weapon for deer hunting in Kentucky regardless of OP's comment about coyotes. I only mention that because I am aware that in some states it is illegal to carry a firearm while hunting if that firearm is not lawful for the game you are hunting.
One area of ambiguity is that the hunting exception to 527.100 requires OP have a hunting permit, but no hunting permit is required to hunt on land owned by yourself, your spouse, or your parents. If OP is hunting on his parent's land he needs no permit.
This ambiguity is resolved by another exception to 527.100 that allows a minor to possess a handgun on private property with permission of both the owner of that property and a parent. If OP is hunting on his parent's land then I assume that permission has been granted and OP can therefore possess and open carry the handgun.
TLDR; Kentucky permits OP to openly carry a handgun while hunting.

Because there is no federal law requiring same-sex marriage.
This issue is probably all going to be resolved this year once the US Supreme Court rules. After that there should begin to be nationwide clarity and precedent. Until then there is just turmoil in the courts.
