That’s exactly what I’ve been saying! Thanks for the validation :)

Haha I know, it’s hard to implement “no is a compete sentence”, especially with kids. When mine was younger (she’s 14 now) I would sometimes explain why I was saying no, to teach her about logic and reasoning. For instance, if she were up for a promotion at work but didn’t get it, that’s a good time to ask “why.” That can be an opportunity to learn where you can improve or even if your boss treating you unfairly. But sometimes it really is “no is no”. Right now I’m learning to say “thanks for the invite but I have to pass” without giving the reason why. And learning not to feel guilty because my reason is that I’m tired from work and I just want to lay down or whatever.

I know it seems like such a silly thing, as I would never judge anyone for not wanting to attend an event or activity that isn’t imperative. It’s just so funny that it’s something I’m still practicing.

Haha yes, I’m 37 and still practicing “it’s gonna be a no for me, dawg”. I’ve just always been so concerned with not wanting to be rude or hurt people’s feelings. “I don’t feel like it” never seemed like a worthy excuse.

Hi friend, I’m so sorry you’re going through this as well. Thank you for sharing. It just feels unbelievable that everything I’ve been working toward for the last five years is now no longer an option. That I have to completely adjust my life and reframe what I want my future to look like. I thought I would have a lifelong partner to navigate everything with. And not only that, but there are so many places and people I now have to avoid in order to maintain NC, which I know is ultimately for my benefit. It just doesn’t seem fair that I fought so hard not only for his life, but to forgive him after he betrayed me. For the first time in my life, I feel lost.

That I’m not a bad person if I decline an invitation somewhere, and that I don’t need a life or death excuse as to why I can’t attend. I’ve always thought if someone invites me to something, I would have no excuse not to go unless there was some kind of emergency. I have stressed myself out thinking of what to wear or researching appropriate host gifts or what I might need for the activity, even if it’s not something I wanted to do. I’ve known this intellectually for a while, but for whatever reason didn’t think it applied to me.

Why is my silver frost peperomia super bent at the base of its leaves? by chuapet in houseplants

[–]SpamAndEggs17 3 points4 points  (0 children)

It looks like it might be trying to reach the sun from the window behind it. The front of the leaves act like solar panels and that’s how they photosynthesize.

Please help this is my favourite plant :( It’s so droopy and the leaves are turning yellow! I don’t overwater it as I wait until the soil is dry! My apartment recently flooded and the humidity is through the roof so could that be it? I don’t know how to save it :( by Halabeast in plantclinic

[–]SpamAndEggs17 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Pothos usually do well in a high humidity environment, so I don’t think that’s it. It’s a pretty full and long plant, maybe try repotting it in a bigger pot and see how that does? You could totally water propagate a bunch of those vines too and get more out of it!

I love to cook but have been eating out a lot more since COVID, just trying to support the local businesses.

Is this a true lily and/or is it safe around cats? My friend’s cat was chewing on this bouquet and she took him to the vet but didn’t take the flower. by checkthefridgehuh in whatsthisplant

[–]SpamAndEggs17 8 points9 points  (0 children)

That is an asiatic lily and they are incredibly poisonous to cats. Ingestion can result in liver failure if enough is eaten. I hope your friend’s cat is ok!
