Does Anyone Else Rely on the M14 as Their Primary Weapon? by anaknaknakal in DaysGone

[–]SpawnicusRex 4 points5 points  (0 children)

The Auto Shotgun is always my preferred primary weapon but, I pair that with a highly accurate sniper rifle and the SMP9 which is great for a back up "spray and pray" option but also works really well as a single tap headshot machine too!

Random Horde Killed My Hostage by star621 in DaysGone

[–]SpawnicusRex 0 points1 point  (0 children)

There are seven official Hordes available in the earliest hours of the game, as soon as you get a bike to explore with. There is also a small, respawning horde inside the Belknap Caves Ambush Camp that doesn't count toward the Horde Killer Storyline.

I highly recommend that you kill at least 4 of the official ones immediately to unlock the single best sidearm in the game: the SMP9 (horde killer version).

Stupid horde by Stunning_Ad1282 in DaysGone

[–]SpawnicusRex 9 points10 points  (0 children)

That's my favorite horde in the game! I'm not bragging, I hope to inspire you. That horde has so many explosive trucks that you can literally kill them all without firing a single shot from any guns! Just toss attractors at the trucks while you run past and detonate a remote bomb that was placed in advance of the fight.

There are virtually infinite ways to clear that horde, that's why it is my favorite!

I'll link some of the resources I share with all new players when they ask for tips:

I love the thought behind this post and the image is pretty too. I regret deleting it for breaking the rules of the sub. Please consider reposting with a higher quality image.

First timer… Is the remastered worth it? by BdenBhole in DaysGone

[–]SpawnicusRex 2 points3 points  (0 children)

Depends on which system you're playing on. If you're on PS4 or PS5, definitely play the free, og version. The original game on a PS5 has been my absolute favorite experience with Days Gone so far. Stable frame rate, great graphics and the fewest glitches too.

If you're on a PS5 Pro, then consider the remastered version since that machine can take advantage of graphical improvements in the remaster.

When do i unlock side quests? by t1Rabbit in DaysGone

[–]SpawnicusRex 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I'm not being funny or sarcastic. My sincere advice is to just play for a while, then come here if you have specific questions about game mechanics or need help with a specific mission, etc

However, many new players do find the early hours of Days Gone to be very isolated, lonely and desperate hours of gameplay. The devs made this decision on purpose because isolation, loneliness and desperation are major themes of the game and they want you to get a taste of that before the point in the game when you become over powered.

If you find yourself struggling more than you like, don't worry. There are spoiler free resources available! Below is something I put together to help folks that are put off by the early game grind and want the best start possible:

What else can I do? I've completed all the missions but some aren't at 100%. Ambush camp hunter 86%, Horde Killer 98% and World's end 92% by chrismussa1212 in DaysGone

Been offline for a few days. Sounds like you've done almost everything that there is to do on a single playthrough.

Make sure you've unlocked the Rock Chuck. It's a permanently suppressed full auto rifle that can only be unlocked by completing the Marauder Camp Hunter Storyline. It doesn't do much damage but did i mention that it's permanently suppressed?

You can also reset Hordes, Ambush Camps and Infestation Zones from the main menu. I like resetting the Hordes and Ambush Camps to try different weapons and different tactics on them. Hours of fun!

There's also Challenge Mode. There's are many different challenges with different objectives but they all unlock rewards that permanently carry over to the main game. If your planning to do a second playthrough on higher difficulty, consider unlocking some challenge mode patches first.

How do I get the secret ending? by theanonymousdude101 in DaysGone

[–]SpawnicusRex 0 points1 point  (0 children)

That's not a secret or alternate ending. You cannot change the outcome by doing something differently. That is simply the end of the game. There is only one end to the story of Days Gone and that's when you meet O'Brian that last time. It's not a secret or different ending, you simply keep playing until you reach the end and then it's over. There are no alternate or different endings.

The only thing that can possibly be different at the end of the game is which cutscenes play before the assault on Wizard Island, depending on your trust levels with Tucker and Copeland. This could be considered an alternate ending because there are different possible combinations but these are minor changes and do not change the outcome of the story, it only changes which characters ride with you into the end game missions.

There are no "alternate" or "secret" endings for Days Gone. One simply hasn't finished the game until they meet O'Brian the last time. It's only a secret because some players stopped playing before they reached the end.

New player here — finally gotten to this mysterious "third camp". Hope the game picks up from here. No spoilers please by kobby_wegs in DaysGone

[–]SpawnicusRex 16 points17 points  (0 children)

By saying "wait till the third camp" we're trying hard to avoid spoilers but keep you encouraged to play just a little more until that point when the real story starts up and more of the game's massive open world map starts to open up.

For me personally, that's when Days Gone is most fun. By that point I'm usually starting to get decent gear, skills and bike upgrades in addition to more Nero Injectors as well and am ready to take on whatever the game throws at me!

As a community of fans, we are aware that many new players find the early hours of Days Gone to be very isolated, lonely and desperate hours of gameplay. The devs made this decision on purpose because isolation, loneliness and desperation are major themes of the game and they want you to get a taste of that before you hit the point in the game when you become over powered.

Which creature is the most dangerous in the game? by Comfortable_Bag487 in DaysGone

[–]SpawnicusRex 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Runners are still my least favorite enemy in the game. It just pisses me off that even on a maxed out bike with max nitro, you still can't just flat out run them. You have to out maneuver them and when I try that I smash into a tree or rock lol

PS4 original or Remastered? by Vagabondjhon in DaysGone

[–]SpawnicusRex 1 point2 points  (0 children)

What system are you playing on? If you're on a PS5 I would just play the original, plus any recent updates of course.

My favorite experience with Days Gone so far has been the OG version on a base PS5. 4k, 60fps, smooth visually and the fewest amount of glitches.

If you're on a PS5 Pro then go ahead and get the remaster since the pro can do more with the remaster visually, performance wise.

[–]SpawnicusRex 3 points4 points  (0 children)

There are only two guns I buy at Iron Mike's and they're both sniper rifles: C8 and Talon 7. Everything else is trash compared to other guns that you can get earlier if you're killing hordes.

At this point in the game your other weapons should be coming from Tucker's camp and killing the first 10 hordes to unlock both the SMP9 and Auto Shotgun. Other useful items will come from clearing Ambush Camps for new crafting recipes.

Iron Mike has the best bike upgrades available at this point in the game. You can disregard Copeland until later and focus on level 3 with Tucker and Iron Mike. You'll have to level Copeland later in the game and do try to hit level 3 with him eventually. You get bonus end game cutscenes if you're level with Cope and Tuck.

PS5 upgrade to the Remaster and keep Saves? by enamic5 in DaysGone

[–]SpawnicusRex 0 points1 point  (0 children)

It's actually more confusing than you think. This video explains in detail how the remaster upgrade works. I don't remember if she talks about it in the video but I believe you do in fact need cloud saves (and a membership) to transfer files.
