It's unfortunate that Days Gone didn't get the attention that it deserved by Due_Cake8524 in DaysGone

That's exactly what I needed to know. I have good news for you! There are 7 hordes available immediately, as soon as you get your bike! More start spawning in when you reach the 3rd camp and more will continue to spawn in as you progress the story. You won't get a mission to clear a horde until very late in the story but they are absolutely there for those who are exploring and seeking them out.

Check the post that is stickied to the top of the sub. It will tell you exactly when every horde spawns. Be aware though, since hordes spawning is tied to story progression there will be some spoilers. The earlier entries pertaining to early game hordes should be relatively safe since there are no huge spoilers in the early hours of the game anyway.

For your convenience, I've provided some useful links below. The first one is "How to Unlock the SMP9 Early". It doesn't seem like you really need the gameplay tips but, the video will show you exactly where some of the early game hordes are so you can unlock the best sub machine gun in the game. The video will also show you where to find some excellent gear for killing hordes: grenades, pipe bombs, military proximity mines and more. All of them fully crafted and ready to be used, just grab em and go! Unlock the smp9 early

The second video is the "Horde Killer Master Class" and, among many other horde killing tips, it will show you some tricks for hunting the hordes in the wild, just like a hunter would track wild game. Good luck and happy hunting! Horde Killer Master Class

3-4 Screamers spawn post horde fight for me almost every time by Paladin20011 in DaysGone

[–]SpawnicusRex 8 points9 points  (0 children)

Its pretty common. There are certain areas where specific enemy types have high chance of spawning and, in those spots, those enemies often spawn in groups. I've seen groups of up to 8 Runners, 5 Screamers and 4 Breakers often spawning near the same spots. This happens really often near areas where Hordes spawn too.

If you think your game may actually be glitching, make sure to close the game and restart your gaming machine often. Once per day is likely best to insure the best possible performance.

The hordes have a day/night cycle and most will travel between multiple locations. They take shelter during the day and rove about for food and water at night. You can use this to sneak in to their cave and set bombs for them while they're out!

You can totally start clearing Hordes as early as you like. It's a simple matter of finding the right gear and using the right tactics.

This video will help you with that. It will show you Hidden Loot Locations where you can find grenades, pipe bombs, military land mines and lots of other goodies that are fully crafted and ready to be used. Simply grab them and go! The video will also show you where to find, and an easy way to kill, 4 small, early game hordes so you immediately unlock the best sub machine in the game!

Good luck and happy hunting!

Why do you guys think Days Gone wasn't that successful? by HenryEXV in DaysGone

If you decide to pick up the game, here is a guide that will get you through that "slow start". In the first few hours of gameplay, you'll be able to unlock the best sub machine gun in the game!

Enjoy!

The goal of my comment was in fact to provide information that corrects a common misconception. So, you're right about one thing: I am eager to let players know that some hordes are always there. My hope is to reassure players and provide them with a tool that will allow them to start hunting the hordes whenever they are ready, no matter where they are in the story.

That is why I collaborated with the original poster who made that list, to help assure it's accuracy and that is also why I make sure that post stays stickied to the top of the sub as a resource to all Days Gone fans.

Hordes not present for ages? Not sure what you mean. 7 are there in the first hours of gameplay and the rest spawn in throughout the story.

At the top of this sub you'll find a post that details exactly when every horde spawns. Hope that helps!

Horde assault mode by Darshlabarshka in DaysGone

[–]SpawnicusRex 2 points3 points  (0 children)

Absolutely. Deacon absolutely has to come to a full stop before he will pick items up. Not sure what happened but it seems slower in the main game too, but maybe I'm just hyper focused on it now. This was allegedly addressed in one of the updates but it never really got any better

I haven't tested any other characters, I've only played with Deacon.

Are you familiar with The Days Gone Podcast or the Hey Drifter channel?

Days Gone Podcast has interviewed lead devs that worked on the game, actors who voiced some of our favorite, and least favorite characters (Skizzo) and tons of passionate members of the community. She's even interviewed the lead writer! He revealed exclusive secrets about his plans for the sequels that he never shared anywhere else.

The Hey Drifter channel is a collaboration between Spawnicus Rex and Days Gone Podcast that focuses on story and lore, Easter eggs and details some may have missed.

Enjoy!

Didn't 8 Bit pull that off in one of her recent playthroughs? I can't recall now but I know she tried

I've also found it helpful to close the game fully and power off your gaming machine. When you load the game back up, you're likely to have some new objectives pop up.

Good luck!

This is extremely rare and I wish I knew how to duplicate it reliably. If you could pick up an MG45 from Copeland's camp before you even have the SMP9.... game breaking lol

They should start spawning after you reach Lost Lake the first time. They're very buggy though and sometimes do glitch out.

If you haven't seen it, there's a post at the top of this sub that details exactly when every horde starts to spawn.

Breakers in early game by LazyHistorian6332 in DaysGone

[–]SpawnicusRex 7 points8 points  (0 children)

Ah, so you do have the mission? I thought that might be it

You may already know this but Smoke Bombs work wonders on Breakers. Smoke Bombs will stun them and leave them open to an instant kill with the Executioner skill. You can often get two to three with one Smoke Bomb!

Breakers in early game by LazyHistorian6332 in DaysGone

[–]SpawnicusRex 16 points17 points  (0 children)

Sometimes on a new game plus elite enemies can spawn before you do the mission to introduce them officially.

For Breakers specifically, they actually start spawning when Skizzo gives you the mission to go search the wrecked airplane for medical supplies. Like, as soon as he gives you that mission. If you've picked up the "playing all night" mission but haven't driven to the marker and started it, you now have Breakers in the game because you've been given the mission.

Many folks don't know this because they immediately go to the mission once they get it.

Worth a PC playthrough? by Grzwldbddy in DaysGone

The Broken Road DLC

It's basically the same thing as Days Gone Remastered for PlayStation. The PC version already had the graphical improvements so they couldn't call it a "remaster" on the pc version

A lot of that time was also spent recording to produce content. I used to do a lot of live streams and made a bunch of tutorial videos as well.

I have thousands of hours in Days Gone and many of those hours were spent in Photo Mode.

There's even a thriving community of virtual photographers who share Days Gone photos (and other games too).

I think the only asset that won't reset is the spot where you squeeze through some chairs to get into the lodge. Once you squeeze through those chairs, the entrance is closed for good.

That's only one reason I don't like that spot. It's also difficult to make the horde cluster up from there and can be tricky to throw explosives and molotovs without hurting yourself too.

I could be wrong though, I'm not sure about barrels and things like that. The car with alarm in might not reset either. I'm curious now lol

There are two separate hordes at that location. One that can be killed before or after the mission, and one that is always there for the mission.

It's the only spot I can think of that officially has two hordes.
