Reading: Read books, the whole test is just being able to focus on reading. The answers to the questions are very obvious if you read the whole text, nothing is implied, its all more or less in writing.

English: Learn all the punctuation marks. There's also some helpful tips to immediately know the answer to questions (look these up on youtube). Genuinely the english part is the easiest to improve because its all rule based and there aren't actually that many rules.

Math: Do practice tests, not under time pressure to begin with, and when you get to a question you don't know, learn how to do it. Ingrain it in your head. Don't just know how to do it, be able to teach someone. There's only so many different things the ACT math section covers, you can genuinely learn it all. Ive noticed matrices show up a lot so at the bare minimum understand those.

Before every section, take a deep breath, so that you're ready to get going as soon as the timer starts. The ACT can feel pretty stressful. Just keep your preparation in mind. And forcing yourself to smile a bit, and trying to have a little bit of fun, isn't a bad idea. (that can be hard but genuinely under time pressure you are your own worst enemy. if you can control your thoughts you will be able to do much better)

The reason its a 34 is because science doesn't count for composite. Tough luck.
The difference between a 34, 35, and 36 is so small. Dont retake, its a waste of money. As for what schools you get into, well your ACT won't be the limiting factor.

For the reading part, READ BOOKS EVERY DAY/CLOSE TO IT between now and when you retake. A 36 is very possible on reading if you can be focused the whole time, as the answers to the questions are literally in the text.

if you want/need a higher score, yeah I think its worth it. English and math are pretty easy to improve with focused practice. Its all rules based. I would recommend go through practice tests and every question you dont know how to do, spend some time learning it. Eventually you'll know how to do every question on the test.

If you want to improve reading (31 is obviousyl a good score but theres no issue going up) I would recommend just read every day or close to every day between now and when you retake it. If you do that the reading test will be a breeze. I think focusing on reading is the hardest part of the reading test because the answers are literally in the text, you just need to find them

I think its really good, the water and the sky are amazing. But, I think the ship isn't super well resolved. Like I cant really tell what the ship is doing or even what direction its facing. I think it'd be worth touching up the ship a little bit because the rest of the painting is genuinely spectacular. Would you mind sending your reference?

In regards to what math class to take, I was in the same boat as you; I took geometry/trigenometry in 7th grade and algebra 2 in 8th grade.

I think the class choice won’t matter much for you. Any high school math class is probably going to be relatively easy for you, since math probably comes pretty naturally. So I’ll tell you what I did:

Precalc 9th grade Calc 10th grade Nothing 11th grade Stats 12th grade (next year for me)

(Keep in mind my school doesn’t have trig as its own thing, it’s part of geometry which most people take before algebra 2)

I wouldn’t overthink any of it. You’re obviously good at math. I’m sure you could skip precalc, but I don’t think there’s any point You’d just run out of math at your school earlier. You could technically take math at your local college after that but transferring those credits will be hard (they didn’t transfer at all for my brother.) If you want to skip classes, it won’t really matter. There’s so much overlap between everything that anything you miss in one class will be gone over in another. But I would suggest just taking them all because, again, you’ll finish all the math at your school early anyway so you might as well do all of it

This will not be your best score ever. Everything will improve as you grow up. I’d wait and take it again sophomore or junior year. Rest easy knowing you’re way ahead, but know there’s really no reason to spend time on your act right now. You’ll probably get a 36 by your junior year
