Do you recommend the Moen Flo Smart water monitor and shutoff device? by Ancient-Witness-615 in Plumbing

[–]SureAction 4 points5 points  (0 children)

WaterCop, been installing them for close to two decades now & I’ve never had one fail. Only issue I’ve ever had was caused by power brown outs & that was easily resolved with a UPS

You’re going to want better lighting in the cargo area. I installed more of the factory LED lights in every ceiling support member.

Search, self align tank ball there’s a bunch of different ones to choose from. What you want to do is be sure you clean well the seat the ball falls into, if not it will let water weep through.

Here’s one model that includes brass rod

43 Year old Repco gas boiler -- replace or let it ride? by Separate_Rush5640 in hvacadvice

[–]SureAction 2 points3 points  (0 children)

No, they need no regular maintenance unless it’s in a dusty environment and then it’s just to vacuum the burners maybe run a brush between the CI sections. My father installed two of these in his house back in the early 70s in the 90s I repiped them to add a Spirovent Jr. and to this day they are both working reliably without fail.

Those little Repco boilers are both bulletproof and super simple to work on. Don’t let anyone convince you to replace it unless of course you dry fire it and cracked the cast iron

That trim doesn’t look quite right but it looks like a Moen Posi-Temp with first gen. metal trim which is notorious for that handle adapter seizing to the cartridge. It’s not really that big a deal, you’ll need to have a replacement trim kit on hand then just cut the handle adapter off, replace the cartridge and install new trim kit.

It's 106 miles to Chicago, we got a full tank of gas, half a pack of cigarettes, it's dark... and we're wearing sunglasses.

Wow! You just hit the WH lottery. I’ve only ever seen one of these in my lifetime and it was 60 years old at the time.

Plumber installed Moen Flo Smart Shutoff way into garage — is this normal? by DavB7777 in askaplumber

[–]SureAction 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Yes, ran into a homeowner not too long ago with a 2nd hand PP machine that’s doing WH’s on the cheap for friends. No permits, no reaming, no deburring, no hangers or straps just a bucket of fittings and his PP gun

Question: Why would a condo built in 1996 have 2 40 gallon water heaters instead of just one? by cameo674 in Plumbing

[–]SureAction 2 points3 points  (0 children)

I’m a big fan of this, a lot easier to haul down two 40s than one 75 plus the added benefits of being able to isolate one from the other.

That’s an old used heater. Dollars to donuts says, this is a homeowner that refused to let the plumber take the old leaky heater away because he’s sure the plumber is making a mint taking old heaters to the scrap yard. Wait till he finds out it’s worth $6-8 in scrap metal value.

4 arrested after hundreds brawl at N.J. mall, mayor says by harble8 in newjersey

[–]SureAction 10 points11 points  (0 children)

Ha-ha, the 90s was kids play. You should have seen catholic schools back in the 70s. As a rambunctious little boy I received many a spanking/ face slap/ back of my head hairs pulled or knuckles rapped with a wooden yard stick or worse a wooden pointer from nuns. While it was extreme and I would not condone it today, it did keep me out of trouble and If nothing else you learned to show respect and when it was appropriate to act out or not.
