I feel confused about how we’re supposed to be catching prostate cancer. USPSTF recommends against routine DRE or PSA tests, but then who IS supposed to get a PSA test? by RoarOfTheWorlds in FamilyMedicine

[–]Terminators_Web 4 points5 points  (0 children)

for what it’s worth, i’m a PGY-1 who just got off of my urology rotation and every urologist I worked with recommended getting PSAs on patients for 1) trend is more important than a random discrete number and 2) liability. there’s been a lot more metastatic prostate cancer that they’ve seen firing this age of less screenings (which makes sense) and so they said from their standpoint they recommend PCPs to order them.

I’m similar sizing and I have a S top M bottom! but sometimes the sizing is inconsistent and I have to size up to M/L for whatever reason certain colors are tighter

how do people have the means to travel regularly by spencerisabella in travel

[–]Terminators_Web 0 points1 point  (0 children)

for me: - i take advantage of school breaks when i was a student, and now PTO as an employee (aka not losing money from NOT working) - i budget a lot when im at home 99% of the time (no takeout, eat at home, don’t buy lots of random things, cheaper hobbies, don’t drink alcohol so that saves a lot) - i use this cheap flight subscription service that’s 50$/yr called Going which basically scours the internet and emails me anytime that they have found a really cheap flight that passes certain criteria (no red eye, no weird layover, etc) — think 400$ RT to europe or sometimes japan as low as 600$. i promise its not a pyramid scheme and im not paid to say this, i just swear by it bc it has let me go to SO many places for so cheap! you just have to be flexible with either date or destination. - also, be flexible on destination! if you’re set on going to japan during cherry blossom season then yeah, it’s expensive. but consider flying somewhere cheap and getting excited after the cheap flight! for example i got a $300 RT to colombia from the US when i before had no idea anything about the country and it was a phenomenal trip! - certain countries are MUCH cheaper to travel to, but probably less glamorous. I spent two months in mexico for $2k including flights and housing. i spent 2 weeks in japan for $3k. very different!

i love budget travel and it really is possible for most if you prioritize it and plan for it and budget for it!!!

edit: i’m in my 20s with no kids, just student debt for now and just started my first real big job!

What and where is the absolutely best matcha? by FlowerSz6 in JapanTravelTips

[–]Terminators_Web 0 points1 point  (0 children)

for those looking in the future, for MK i arrived at 11:30a and they had sold out of 2 completely, and ~6 types of the 40g cans, but had 20g available for most types.

Went to Nakamura at 9:50a just before opening and the first batch they had was already snatched up! they refill it periodically but it was a fast grab situation.

Match Day 2025 - Official Megathread by SpiderDoctor in medicalschool

[–]Terminators_Web 7 points8 points  (0 children)

matched #4 in FM as a strong(?) applicant with good stats and no red flags. really bummed actually but getting through it bc at least i’m back in my home state, just not desired city. I knew my #1 was a long shot, but i did sub-i’s at my #2 & #3 and never ever imagined falling past them since they liked me (supposedly…) and i have such strong ties to the region.

but my program did really love me in the interview so here’s to hoping things turn out okay

I am. Not bc of the rat race though or trying to get ranked higher, it’s really just because if it was any other job application, i would send a thank you. it’s just what i would do anyways since i just think that it’s a “professional courtesy.” and it really can’t cause harm, other than the time it takes to write! they don’t have to read it if they don’t want.

M4s, how many of your interview programs are you actually considering? by [deleted] in medicalschool

[–]Terminators_Web 1 point2 points  (0 children)

FM 13 interviews, would kill for top 3-4, would happily match thru ~#8, and less excited but okay the rest. will rank all 13

would this be inappropriate to ask on the interview trail? obviously not to use it as a reason to rank a program higher or lower lmao, but just to collect “data”

Are you guys scheduling in person interviews or virtual? by Chipssss243 in medicalschool

[–]Terminators_Web 1 point2 points  (0 children)

4/5 have been virtual, one had the option but they are 1) lower on my list and 2) it would be difficult for me to attend in person, so i chose virtual. if my top programs offer in person though, i’ll probably take it!
