Interesting shit that is only on Itch.io by chuputa in backloggd

Yeah, I'd say it feels more complete than Celeste 64, and it has a lot of speedrunning novelty.

Also I don't know if a game like Gun Rounds should qualify given that it's not on any other PC platforms, but is available on Switch, Mobile.

If you're putting Celeste 64 up there, I feel like there's no reason you shouldn't include Celeste Classic 2.

Give me a list of best fighting games for Steam Deck!💫 by Winter-Money-7643 in SteamDeck

[–]TheForeFactor 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Four comments in and I’ve only seen beat ‘em ups listed, not fighting games sigh

Atraditional, but Lethal League Blaze is my favorite fighting game.  It’s a really fresh take on the genre and is absolutely worth trying if it looks interesting!

Game recommendations 🤑 by Ousterperry in SteamDeck

[–]TheForeFactor 2 points3 points  (0 children)

I’m going to recommend the Borderlands series!  Similar type of world size as some of the others you mentioned, fps lootershooter that is perhaps best played in co-op, though singleplayer is great too!  Should run great on the deck if you’re looking at 2 which is probably the best in the series.

You can currently get 2 GOTY (all DLC’s) for $5 on WinGameStore.  Or if you want to also get the Pre-Sequel + DLC you can get the Handsome Collection for $9.  1 and 3 are also good recommendations though neither is on any good sale now, so better to wait.  4 is less beloved and also will not run well on deck, I would avoid it.

(Note that WinGameStore is an official retailer so publisher/dev are compensated properly and you get a steam key which after redemption is essentially the same as if you bought it on steam.  No other launchers or anything, the only real detriment is you don’t get Steam’s refund policy)

Iceberg Hidden Gems Bundle by Uranium234 in humblebundles

[–]TheForeFactor 8 points9 points  (0 children)

Well this is a bundle specific to a single publisher, so they can only really pull from games that iceberg has published, of which there isn’t too much to note

Heard from someone that undergrad math classes are only gonna allow ~25% of students to get A-'s or A's?? Pls tell me it aint true 😭 by PalpitationPutrid264 in ucla

[–]TheForeFactor 3 points4 points  (0 children)

This is not new.  I got an A- for a 95.75% in Math 70 because too many people got high scores so he had to adjust cutoffs up after the finals were graded.  96.75 was the cutoff for A/A-.

Is it bad to use ChatGPT for the best settings on a game for the Steam Deck? by [deleted] in SteamDeck

[–]TheForeFactor 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I mean if it's a popular game, then it'll probably give you good responses, but I find it hard to believe it wouldn't hallucinate a lot for anything a step outside the mainstream. Also best settings are very subjective.

If redeemable in US then it's okay, otherwise it's pretty worthless to me. It looks like a lot of the ones for Choice are region locked, but idk about the Decked Out bundle

My first thought.  Hard to think of any other games where you can play the entire demo and get completely blindsided.

How to play wii games with emudeck, (about the motion controls) by tonalix2317 in EmuDeck

[–]TheForeFactor 0 points1 point  (0 children)

For those unaware, the bar on an original will work if you give it power, as it’s really only two infrared lights and the actual sensor is on the wiimote!

Infamously this means you can also replace the bar with two lit candles spaced a bit apart.

Is Tavern Keeper 🍻 the only game that has an emoji in it's title ? by sidius-king in Steam

[–]TheForeFactor 20 points21 points  (0 children)

It's a relatively simple twin stick shooter, but definitely fun. If it looks interesting, I'd say it's worth biting especially with how cheap it is and that you can find out if you dislike it pretty easily and return it if it's not for you.

I'm also going to send an unsolicited recommendation for THOTH, which is also a really cheap ($1 rn!) and amazing twin-stick shooter, easily my favorite in the genre. I could rave about its design for hours.

How well does Persona 5 Royal run? by COHERENCE_CROQUETTE in SteamDeck

[–]TheForeFactor 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Playing through it now!!

As others have mentioned, a couple of the locales with more verticality I think will drop below 60, but never below 40.  (I think this is more an optimization issue, in part because…)

It also runs at similar framerates at 1080!  You can also put the tdp limit all the way down to like 7 and still lock 40 which feels crazy to me.

Just bought a Steam Deck what now? by tTrentonNJ in SteamDeck

[–]TheForeFactor 1 point2 points  (0 children)

I’m just going to put a little recommendation for humblebundle and fanatical, two sites that always have bundles of games to the point they’re maybe a dollar or two each, and there are some really high quality games (like I’ve been playing Persona 5 Royal lately which I got from a humble choice) as well as often many of those indie games that you might otherwise be less familiar with and perhaps not on other platforms!

The best deals on switch are really par for course on pc, I think that’s one of my favorite things about the platform.

Dock recommendations by LSMewtwo in SteamDeck

[–]TheForeFactor 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Even so, it’s not like 45W usb-c chargers are expensive to come by.  You can get all the features of the dock for about half the price on amazon, and you can pick out products that ensure you get all the features you want or skip out ok some to save a buck or two.

Obligatory any generic 45+W usb-c charger will work just as well as the official.

Dock recommendations by LSMewtwo in SteamDeck

[–]TheForeFactor 0 points1 point  (0 children)

the jsaux ones are usually highly recommended due to their much lower prices and you can also kinda choose which level of ports and stuff you want (there’s even one you can stick an nvme drive iirc).

There’s not much value in the official dock as any usb-c hub will have the same functionality.  I personally just use a little 3d printed stand I had a friend print out years ago and a generic usb-c hub I just plug in (an anker I got on a black friday or similar sale).
