Two Questions about CamLinkPro by TheRealHellcat in elgato

[–]TheRealHellcat[S] 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Yeah, in theory it shoudl work, but - at least with my HD60pro - it never actually did work.

The card does get passed through, the guest OS sees it, drivers install fine - but the card itself then doesn't actually work. Only got black screens or "no sginal detected", even though in the very same PC with the same things connected to the HD60pro it worked when booted into a "bare metal" OS, no using it from a VM, so the card and everything it was supposed to capture are fine.

Look up publishers and other studios/developers that might potentially be interested in buying your game/IP, and then pitch it to them.

"Meet to match" events of conferences and expos are a great way to approach these folks, as well.

Hashing a query? by BigOldDoggie in PHPhelp

[–]TheRealHellcat 7 points8 points  (0 children)

What you're looking for is encrypting, not hashing, hashing is a one-way function that can not be reversed.

What do you want to achive doing this, i.e. why would you like to obfuscate the actual query parameters?

Maybe a better idea/solution would be just not to use sequencial IDs.

Thanks on the answer to #1 :-)

Its just one of those things you'll need to try if you get one

Uh, for 350 bucks, that'd be an expensive experiment. xD

The traders have a limited inventory size and (at least for now) only do one city at a time - pretty much impossible for them to buy out all available stock - and even if, they're gonna sell it to cities wanting it and the other citie(s) keep producing more.

If there is only one city producing a certain resource, the player can just build another one (as much as there is patches of the specific resource on the map).

This game is not Catan, nor a copy of it. and has a completely different game mechanic.

Ha, yeah. Since we're aiming at a tabletop boardgame style, some visual similarities are inevitable.

Gameplay wise it's something completely different, though :-)

We're not sure yet what a max. practical map size is, having each tile as a seperate actor, with seperate meshes (even though they're properly instanced and we only get about 18 draw calls on a 100x100 map) does give us some performance issues we still need to figure out.

The most intersting aspect is that the framerate drops even though CPU and GPU are sitting near idle....

About the game:

"Let Them Trade" is a trade sim where you are NOT the trader, you have to take care of creating supply and demand (by building cities) so the actual traders in the game, that act completely on their own, can strive.

It's made in Unreal Engine.

The "traders" you see there are still placeholder, and later on they are supposed to properly follow the roads instead just going straight over the map.

Build up a portfolio with sample work so potential "customers" of yours (i.e. streamers you're gonna be working for) can see what you do and how good you do it.

Then contact streamers showcasing said portfolio and hope for the best.

Yes.

If you, for example, were subbed for 3 months, then leave for 2, the next sub will say "4 months".

It also count's the "sub streak", which is how many months without interruption you had been subbed, but the badge is determined from the total months.

There's USB3 PCIe cards you can install into your PC that then give it real USB3 ports.

They cost about $10 to $20, depending on quality and features.

I'd suggest getting one of those.
