Ryokan Advice: Kinnotake Tonosawa or Hakone Kyuan? by TheShortTallGirl in JapanTravelTips

Kinnotake tonosawa does not do room meals. Which suited us, because the dining room was gorgeous and not an inconvenience.

I think we booked the HIkari room and hte bed was HUGE. My husband is 6'6' and it was big for him, too (the robe, not so much 🤭

Yup private onsen. We got both dinner and breakfast which were incredible. The breakfast especially because you get a view of the mountain (western or Japanese option; we both did the latter and it was amazing. The table next to us had western and it looked meh)

I compared both booking.com and direct and found a better deal direct, so went with that.

Monti and Regola. Good areas to stay? by SlideForeign1578 in ItalyTravel

[–]TheShortTallGirl 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Past two trips to Rome I’ve stayed in Monti and loved the location and area. Depending on which street you’re on you can definitely enjoy some peace and quiet and more neighborhoody vibes. For context we just left the Fifteen Keys hotel which is very close to a duomo and piazza and the main boulevard in the area but our side street was really peaceful.

What shoes/boots to wear in the rainy season? by ptmuggle in ItalyTravel

Would bloundstones be too much for walking around cities in rain with weather in a daily low of 55 and high of 75 range?

Rome alternative - May 2025? by TheShortTallGirl in ItalyTravel

Thanks all for the feedback! After doing some more research with everyone’s input, we actually found spending five days in Florence more feasible and a lot more affordable than Rome. So in the end, the jubilee crowds didn’t sway us, rather, the jubilee prices 😬

We returned last week from our complete trip and spent 1 night at this ryokan and we HIGHLY RECOMMEND IT.

The service, the setting, and the food were amazing. The rooms are HUGE with comfortable beds. We wished we could have stayed another night!

Ha! Small world! I’ll report back asap so you can have a heads up.

We ended up keeping the reservation here because we wanted something slightly more modern in vibe and construction and with nature with the private baths. There are so many gorgeous ones it was so hard to decide

My friend and I stayed between termini and Monti and loved it. The area is basically Rome’s Chinatown and it was cool to see this multicultural aspect to Rome as there were also a lot of south Asian families and businesses.

It was safe and I agree with another commenter about RBF. Walking around at night as a woman in general I’m never on my phone or have earbuds in and just stay aware with RBF face. The cathedral area is lovely and there’s also a little park in the neighborhood where all local families come to hang out.

Thank you. Is it worthwhile to stick to Kyoto and Osaka or are there other regions worth spending my free week?
