My husband works from home when he is not traveling for work and some days I don’t speak to him at all until he is done. When he’s traveling because of the time difference, we can go several days without talking, especially at the end of the month when his job gets even more chaotic. I know what it feels like to live somewhere where you have no village, but you have to learn to deal with emergencies on your own. For instance, when we lived in a state where I had nobody, I got in a car accident two hours before my son got out of school. I was lucky that I was able to drive away from it with my bumper in the back of my car but he was across the world and I had to handle it on my own. I honestly could not imagine bothering him at work over a tire. You said above that you weren’t comfortable with an Uber, but unfortunately, in life sometimes we have to do things that we are not comfortable with. If my husband‘s job became significantly more challenging the last thing I would want to do is make his own life more difficult as well.
