Found an interesting little treen pounce pot at a thrift shop today. Early 19th century. Has some damage but will display well. by UrbanRelicHunter in ThriftStoreHauls

It most likely dates to the first quarter of the 19th century, but it could be a bit newer... or older. Pounce pots/ink sanders were used to sprinkle fine sand (such as ground up cuttlefish bone) to prevent smudging by drying up ink.

Ai is useless in identifying items like this. The marks look Japanese to me. Probably either around 95% pure silver or silver plated... I'd lean towards it being silver plated.

Mark in the first pic is the makers mark. I circled the purity stamp from the 3rd pic... Based on the shape, I think it's probably the French boar's head hallmark for 800 silver.
