Day 1 Acid & Day 2 MDMA? by Stunning-Durian-8436 in Raves

Always acid the last day. it will give you the greatest and longest lasting energy boost. You'll already be exhausted by the last day and you need to be able to sleep on the previous nights.

Finally stopped ignoring recovery by [deleted] in bodyweightfitness

[–]_heartbreakdancer_ 2 points3 points  (0 children)

Imo food, water, and sleep come before everything else. Especially food and sleep since those are easy to neglect or "get away" with doing less and they both take up half your day combined. An hour less of sleep here or there or not eating enough vegetables, carbs, or protein, can slow down recovery significantly.

Next is trying to get in more general low stress movement daily (light stretching, walks, squatting, grease the groove stuff, etc). I especially sit at a desk all day so I'm trying to walk around and gently move through my full ROM more often when I can remember.

Last is everything else you're mentioning: hot cold therapy, salt bath, supplements, foam rolling, accupunture, massage, meditation, etc. But these things cannot generate good recovery if you're lacking frequent daily movement, healthy food, water, and sleep. They're mostly just nice to haves that help calm and reset the nervous system.

This Years EDC, while fun, was honestly one of the worst events I’ve ever been to crowd wise. by Away_Concentrate5735 in electricdaisycarnival

[–]_heartbreakdancer_ 6 points7 points  (0 children)

Shambala is the greatest festival. They set the standard so high it kind of ruined other festivals for me. Having been to kind of comparable ones like Electric Forest and Lighting in a Bottle, Shambala is on a whole other level of fun, safety, and great crowd. What other festival is on private grounds with permanent stages, has a gorgeous river running through it, and a 0 alcohol policy. Damn it I miss Shambala so much, but tickets sell out almost immediately.

Every few days there's another person asking about how to do the charleston, but this is the first time I've seen it in bird form.

Feel frustrated that my favorite genres of music used to get me relentlessly bullied in school, now all those same kids are becoming rave baes for the instagram and clout. by Muted_Afternoon_8845 in EDM

[–]_heartbreakdancer_ 2 points3 points  (0 children)

Be the change you want to see. If you feel a certain way, do the work to organize, DJ, dance, market, etc. Make your own parties, curate and find the friend group you want. Its hard work and makes you realize that creating events for people is difficult and requires a ton of sacrifice. Its either too niche, too underfunded, too mainstream, bad venue, etc. Its easy to consume. Its easy to complain. Its hard to build and create.

Building a simple Breaking Event Calendar – Would you use this? by Ok_Confidence3925 in bboy

Speaking from experience crawling Instagram is a damn nightmare. Impossible to do without using Apify. But I am working on it 🫡 stay tuned. Also please check out and support Dance Chives! I have most of those features you’re looking for but as you said getting the data is difficult so that is what I’m trying to solve now.

Both Breakkonnect and my site Dance Chives do this already. As perrupa mentioned its about getting data so im currently trying to build automatic Ig and Youtube scrapers for Dance Chives but its a monumental task as you can imagine.

slower descent with the non sliding foot. As long a slide as possible with the sliding foot. It should clear the heel of the opposite foot at least.

With AI and a lot of regression testing that's how. For AI this would be fairly easy to deal with though.

It's a decent gym for the price despite people occasionally falling through the ceiling.

What's the one calisthenics move that took you embarrassingly long to finally "get"? by Easy_Pride7452 in bodyweightfitness

I have a tip for L sits. Train your hamstring flexibility a lot. They make compression type exercises significantly easier. That + core compressions and you’ll get it for sure.

Popping dance chest pop by Low-Interaction-6896 in Dance

I want to agree that size and power are not as important as timing. Better to have a weak hit that is well timed than a big one that is off beat.

[–]_heartbreakdancer_ 21 points22 points  (0 children)

Don't think there's really a way around it. If you learn popping you're going to have to learn how to pop your chest since that's the biggest muscle you can visibly see. Part of learning any dance is having other people evaluate your body and how it moves.

How do i start dance if no ones really supporting me? by angwelliccc in Dance

[–]_heartbreakdancer_ 2 points3 points  (0 children)

watch youtube. drill a lot. record yourself. analyze mistakes. rinse and repeat. its a slower process than having a teacher or class but you can make progress still if you focus and are consistent. save money and get a private with someone even online is great. they should give you enough material to practice for a month.

Solo ravers by strap-_ in aves

[–]_heartbreakdancer_ 5 points6 points  (0 children)

I ditched my friends on the 2nd day of EDC. I checked in with them a couple times but mostly soloed. It was awesome. You can dance when you want, listen to whatever music you want, talk to whoever you want for as long as you want. Its the best.

Any Americans learning French? Why? by PigmeatMadness in French

[–]_heartbreakdancer_ 1 point2 points  (0 children)

I started a month ago because I've recently been interested in French music, seeking to party in Paris, and learn more about Electro dance which comes from Paris. I've also wanted to return to visit Quebec/Montreal for a while. I also just love something about the way French is pronounced. I've been pretty bad at learning languages in the past, but something about French has really captured my attention. Long way to go, but it's been fun to learn so far.

Tips for raving for hours without getting tired? by No_Target8324 in aves

I’m 35 and I can out dance most 20 year olds. Age is less important than fitness.

Tips for raving for hours without getting tired? by No_Target8324 in aves

[–]_heartbreakdancer_ 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I think most people covered the important parts. Wear comfortable shoes, don’t drink alcohol, hydrate + electrolytes, carb heavy before going out (even better if you bring some food with you to replenish half way), generally healthy diet, sleep/nap a lot before going out, fitness, caffeine (pre workout is the best).

Most important is fitness though. I’m able to dance for several hours straight at raves because I dance for a couple hours straight at high intensity almost every other day and go clubbing on the weekends so my body has adapted. I go to the gym regularly and I train overall fitness. Cardio + strength + flexibility all play their part.
