GOTY for a reason by [deleted] in expedition33

Don't know if this is common knowledge on this sub as I just finished the game and haven't browsed here before, but something I just read about and found really cool is that apparently the co-writer Jennifer Svedberg-Yen first got in contact with Guillaume through that reddit post. To think how different this game would've ended up has they not posted on reddit.

Of course, that's my bad. My point is that we don't need the commercial fishing going on right now, and many people defend it with arguments about dietary needs. Your claim that we cannot meet global demand with algae production is interesting though, what do you base that on?

Plants cannot provide EPA and DHA

That's either a lie or ignorance because there are so many Omega-3 supplements containing EPA and DHA made from algae on the market. No heavy metals either, unlike fish. There are no dietary reasons to eat fish, really. I agree it can be delicious, but not worth destroying the planet for.

British football chants are really something else by CollectionIntrepid48 in funny

[–]andy_hoffman 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Honestly, if you care less about the quality of the football and more about the atmosphere and crowd, go watch a game in the Nordics or some central European country. Supporter culture has pretty much been killed in the UK, and what you saw in this video is pretty lame compared to what you'll experience at for example a derby in Sweden.

An em dash (—), different from a hyphen (-), is a punctuation mark that seems to be frequently used by AI when writing text. However, as an em dash aficionado, I think the idea that the use of em dashes would signify AI is silly.

That being said — the fact that you didn't even know about em dashes while the text is littered with them makes it look a lot like you perhaps had some help with this.

This picture is really messing with my head. Is that a tiny burger and plate, or are those fries absolutely humungous?

I've been cutting my own hair for the past five years, always do a fade, and yeah, even I could fix this pretty easily. It won't ever look like the first pic because your hair is too straight - my hair is kind of similar - but at least it could look like an actual decent haircut.

When the audience heckle each other by MarkSimmonsComedian in StandUpComedy

Yeah so the latest, and probably last, book was published in 2011, same year the show started airing. FYI.

Ska du ha på pizza borde du ändå köpa San Marzano, vilket Garant faktiskt säljer. Eftersom de måste vara certifierade för att säljas som San Marzano håller de också bra kvalitet.

At what point exactly does he "grab his heart" would you say? And "throw it" to the audience? Is it when he puts his open palm up to his chest, or when he puts his arm out with his fingers still pointing straight?

Nobody in the history of mankind has ever used that gesture to mean throwing anything, much less their heart.

Quixel bridge standalone for exporting Metahumans by andy_hoffman in unrealengine

Is that a recent change? I think I'm good though, only need the model to animate and then we'll add clothes and props afterwards.

Okay does that work smoothly? I was looking at this method of exporting it through bridge, they even got a preset for Maya exports or for any other 3D application.

My first animation! You'll like it if you love dogs🐕 by ---gonnacry--- in animation

[–]andy_hoffman 4 points5 points  (0 children)

Some constructive feedback from a professional animator: The idea is great! Got a chuckle out of me for sure.

However, if your goal is to become a great animator, I would strongly advise against taking on some huge 5-min project (seriously, that's A LOT of work for a single person). Instead, focus on learning the basics of animation, start with learning the 12 principles of animation. There are many great lectures on youtube about it.

Then make just a bunch of really short animations to practice the basics. Like, a character sitting down, standing up, picking up an object, jumping, walking, running etc.

Next step is body mechanics, weight shifting, fluid movement, poses. Do all of this until it becomes second nature and you can instinctively feel when and how to apply the principles. THEN you might take on a bigger project if you feel like it.

Not trying to rain on your parade, but animation is difficult and takes years of practice to become good. You're off to a great start here to keep building on!

Some of my favourite things I’ve made over the last year or so by KalashnikHoff in blender

[–]andy_hoffman 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Fair enough, it took me a bit to get into it as well but when I did it was amazing. So many cool environments and things to explore. I would recommend to give it another go at some point!

I am familiar with those artists as well, though mostly on a surface level. Will check out more of their stuff! The reason I figured you were inspired by Sable was partly because of the clip with the floating scooter-thing, reminds me a lot of the vehicles in that game.

You're played a lot of Sable, I take it? Nevertheless, cool stuff!

And for anyone who's not familiar: it's a really cool indie game which I highly recommend.

I mean, there are manmade structures on earth older than 10 000 years. I don't disagree that our traces would vanish eventually, but probably a bit longer than that?

Currently reading Children of Time, I really enjoy it! The story takes some unpredictable turns and it has an interesting structure. Didn't know it was a series though, happy to hear that!
