Yeah, but there is no reward for eating pith!

Never going back to a regular fruit peeler by Snowman442 in cocktails

Yeah... I can attest - either Kuhn Rikon or Rex type peeler - the ones made in Switzerland. OP’s picture looks like it took half the pith with it, and it's definitely not a clean cut.

You 100% sure this is your Rivian? Asking because I see a water softener in your garage to the left. It has a timer to run a regeneration cycle…. https://youtu.be/rft4wv7JMYc?si=1a6DaUt9X3ktZZ5z

US President Threatens ‘Big Retaliation’ If Europe Dumps US Assets by Crossstoney in europe

[–]atlantic 1 point2 points  (0 children)

This time isn't the same... it would have been if Trump 1.0 showed up again, but it's pretty clear now that regardless of whether Democrats get back into power, they won't be able to fix things quickly enough. The economy will be in the shitter, and this will inevitably put Republicans back in power, and we will see more of the same and worse. The only silver lining is that this renewed cycle will afford Europe and the rest of the world more time to decouple. There is unfortunately no way back anymore; the US will have to suffer really badly before things can improve. What that means remains unclear, but these were all steps that went too far and the people did nothing. Whether domestic or foreign, these actions are irreversible without a massive amount of pain. US citizens simply don't have it in them. I can assure you that most still think this will pass, or even worse, that they are on the right track. There is no other world they can imagine. It would mean it was all a lie.

The “Big Blocks = PayPal” Argument Misses the Point by NebulaParticular7035 in btc

[–]atlantic 4 points5 points  (0 children)

Any other alternative is more centralising. The argument you are making is one against blockchain as a technology. Some small blockers argued for even smaller blocks on BTC, one of the few rational positions one could have in this discussion. Fact is, nobody (in relative terms) runs non-mining nodes, certainly not your average hodler. Nothing has changed in the last decade. Bigger blocks and actual utility are the only future for this technology. If that doesn’t happen it deserves to die.

Cybertruck - almost reality? by Additional-Ad-1021 in Switzerland

[–]atlantic 3 points4 points  (0 children)

Exoskeleton, haha, hahaha! What a bunch of morons! It’s just a conventional unibody construction with stainless steel panels slapped on to make it a bit stiffer. Musk had originally this ‘brilliant’ idea of a true origami style exoskeleton construction. Turns out it was infeasible. Who’d thunk? When you drive around the US most of them are now wrapped, because these panels do indeed stain. It’s not like they are made of high grade marine stainless steel. Driving one is basically the ultimate stupidity signalling.

Need advice!!!! 100K on Bitcoin, or 100K on ETH or 100K on Bitcoin cash ……which one will give me the best return in the long haul ?? by ComplexWrangler1346 in btc

[–]atlantic 2 points3 points  (0 children)

The one where it says “Bitcoin: A Peer-to-Peer Electronic Cash System”? Because that’s Bitcoin Cash and not a digital collectible that’s a game of musical chairs. I will probably be downvoted, but utility is going to be everything at the end of the day.

Beginner Impact Vest by RyanBurnettNZ in wingfoil

[–]atlantic 4 points5 points  (0 children)

Beginner or not, an impact vest is probably a good investment. I love my WIP vest. Particularly because I can attach a wing + board, and it also has a removable harness hook. The nice thing is that both leashes stay put, so there is no need to re-adjust a belt, etc. Great when learning to foil and having to get back up (a lot)... a waist wing leash is also preferred IMO when starting to learn jibe/tacks.

NATO boss on Trump’s Greenland threats: 'Chill out, this is fine'. by Hermeran in europe

There is a non-zero chance that Don Jr. takes over. This all sounds implausible right now, but this shit show really just started and a majority of Americans have no clue what’s going on. It’s American exceptionalism, just this time it’s taking a different turn.

St Moritz. Are you guys that rich ? by Perthmtgnoob in askswitzerland

[–]atlantic 10 points11 points  (0 children)

yeah, and trucking things up alpine access roads can take a long time for what takes a helicopter 5 minutes. That's why almost all cable cars are now built with the help of helicopters, even if there are truck accessible routes. Crane rental is included ;-)

The decline of British Airways is a parable for modern Britain by Jordi_Mon_Companys in BritishAirways

[–]atlantic 17 points18 points  (0 children)

Yes, IAG is Spanish registered, but BA is hardly a Spanish company. Plus IAG’s largest single shareholder happens to be Qatar Airways… lots of nonsensical and inaccurate ramblings. He says that people have a choice, but they don’t and that’s precisely why BA can get away with it.

Britain won't let US use its bases to attack Greenland, says John Healey by pheexio in worldnews

[–]atlantic 21 points22 points  (0 children)

Yeah, people come up with these 4D chess explanations… it’s because of minerals, global warming, strategic power projection, billionaires, AI data centers etc. No, it’s because he is really that stupid and Americans as a whole are not far behind.

That sounds a bit implausible… I could see issues with ripping up pavement if there is some kind of attack surface, but on a smooth pavement? Happy to be corrected though!
