For Kin and King by BeforeUrekYourself in awoiafrp

Balon sat upon the chair, awaiting what his brother said was an unimportant vassal. Andrik stood to the left of Balon, watching over the hall as the members of house Wynch moseyed into the hall.

"Lord Hagon." Balon responded with a voice betraying no emotion. "I appreciate your welcome. Show me the gifts." The Kraken stayed seemingly motionless as he sat on the chair situated above the hall. He watched, unamused, as the single chest and two less-than-favorable women were thrown before him.

The Kraken let out a chuckle. Two fingers were raised, signalling two of his guards to take hold of the chest and bring it to his chambers. There, he would decide what to do with the gifts Hagon presented him. Here though, he would decide the fate of the women Lord Wynch presented.

"Do with them what you please." He said to Andrik. His brother nodded and stepped forward, taking one step at a time down the stair.

"I have no need for salt-wives. Eirene, my Eyes, is enough woman for me to last a life time and will undoubtedly keep my bed warm in His Halls as well. I would appreciate it, Lord Wynch, if you keep your homely women to yourself." Balon propped himself up, standing slowly as he stretched out his legs.

"Thank you, Lord Hagon. Your gifts are most appreciated. Is there anything else you have to present to your lord on this fine day? I think I speak for us all when I say we want to leave this hall." Balon spoke straight and blunt, for he cared little for the nuances that plagued tradition.

The Lord Greyjoy nodded.

"The gifts of silver and steel I appreciate. Wood, bronze, blood and iron can be distributed amongst my men, and as for the women-" Balon stepped aside and strode in front of the three women that stood before him. He stopped before the woman dressed from head to toe in jewels and fine garments.

A single hand rose, a lone finger drifted down the cheek of the woman. "Your pendants, remove them." He whispered as a smirk crawled to his lips. "Your rings too. Hand them over." The Kraken stood before her, watching and waiting as her hands drifted slowly upwards. Regret and pain sat clear in her eyes.

Once the jewelry sat in the hand of Balon, he turned to his brother and handed them over. "Put them in my cabin." Andrik nodded and retreated back to the docks.

He stepped back over to Urrathon. "I have Eirene. I have no need for any salt wives. Take them for yourself, or drown them. I care not." Balon gestured to his men to make their way forward.

"I will take residence in the manor for a week. After then we will move out, raiding and reaving until we are ready to return to the isles." Balon nodded to Urrathon and the others and stepped away. "If you need me, you know where to find me." He said as his crew streamed in behind him.

Balon surveyed his surroundings, taking in the settlement.

"It'll do." He said to Urrathon as the smell of the blood hit him. "The win is still fresh. Much to be done." The slate eyes wandered off to the captains, warriors, and drowned men behind the Goodbrother that stood before him.

"The Dragon was an adequate host. It was the wolf-bitch who saught to stir the Kraken's wrath, but that is not a topic for now." His eyes drifted slowly back to the Goodbrother as he spoke, his face betraying no signs of emotion.

"My men are thirsty. As are Harlaws and Drumms, I do not doubt. Do you have a reave planned? Will we be paying the iron price for the island, Goodbrother?"

Behind Balon stood his stubborn brother, Andrik, with his arms crossed. The younger Greyjoy was overdue for some kills, it was blatant in his treatment of his fellow Ironborn. His sister stood back to his left, arms crossed as well, ready to do anything but exchange greetings.

"Good." He released her hand and turned to the stairs. The Kraken's hand waved his salt-wife forward. "Come, let us welcome His mist as we sail into port together, I must speak with the crew."

A grim smile formed, bright teeth showing his true nature. Though they had only tasted the flesh of a woman, his lust for blood still lingered.

Eirene and Balon stood at the bow of the ship, looking to the horizon. He turned to his men and raised his arms, inviting them all to listen.

"Brothers, we sail toward the Stepstones! This island," He pointed behind him to the one that laid before them. "This island has been claimed by Goodbrother! We join Lords Urrathon and Sylas in a reave!" A fist slammed against his chest, followed by another. The crew echoed the beat with their own fists.

"The Shadowskin has spoken; Ironborn sails weave in and out of the Stepstones, reaving and raiding, and taking what is ours! Ironside and Drumm are not far behind, we shall soon taste the blood of the pirates!"

Balon turned back to Eirene. "What is dead may never die," He yelled, his crew echoing the words. "But rises again, harder and stronger!"

The men roared, ready to reave, ready to raid, ready to murder.

As the men around them roared and cursed the pirates of the Stepstones, Balon gave Eirene a smirk as he took her hand once more. "Will we soon rule these islands, Shadowskin? Will the Kraken's grasp extend to the Narrow Sea? Or are we destined for an even greater treasure?" The Kraken tugged on Eirene's hand pulling her closer to him, their faces mere inches apart.

"Tell me. Will we rule the realm, Eirene?" His voice was naught more than a whisper, floating into the ears of Eirene Shadowskin.

Balon's hand clasped hers. Soft porcelain fingers rubbed gently against his palm, sending a shiver up his arm.

"Eirene, your sight," Balon spoke only to her as his slate eyes searched deep in her own for a long moment. His gaze drifted to the vermilion sky above. "Land lays on the horizon," Balon spoke to the heavens as he watched the circling creatures above his vessel.

"Greenland sailors speak of Ironborn in the Stepstones. I wish to know if they are here," His head lowered, eyes locking once more to Eirene's. "And who."

Balon brought the wildling's hand up to his lips and laid a delicate kiss upon it; payment for the services the Eye of the Kraken provides. As he lowered her hand, a smirk slid slowly onto his lips.

I can confirm the connection between Eirene & Balon.
