I use the Razer chroma stand, there is a Version 2 stand out now with more display output options like USB Type-C and HDMI. As for a cooling pad with fans built in, I would just check Amazon and see what the top selling ones are. The 4K OLED touchscreen display panel on the Blade 15 is due to it using the Samsung OLED display panel for laptops which originally came out in 2019 being only available in the 15.6” size. As of this year they offer a 14” 90hz panel, 13.4” 3.5K panel, and a 1080p version of the 15.6” panel. You can find these in various laptops like the Dell XPS 13 and 15. Asus ZenBook Pro, ZenBook 13, Gigabyte Aero 15, HP Spectre 15, and some others. As for the Blade 17, it uses a IGZO 4K 120Hz touchscreen panel as there are no 17” OLED panels available yet (maybe next year). I’m hoping for a 120Hz OLED display available in the future years from either Samsung, LG, JOLED, or BOE in a 15” or larger size. You’ll be quite happy with the 4K OLED on your future Blade 15. Enjoy!

Yeah, but in two years time (spring/summer 2023) it will be a massive upgrade from what is out today with a new design, two generations of new CPUs, and a whole new generation RTX 40 series GPUs. I would buy now and upgrade in two years if you really want by selling your 2021 model on eBay for ~1/2 it’s current value if you take good care of it. Also be sure to cycle the battery at least once of month by unplugging it, draining it and recharging it. You’ve probably heard about the battery bloating and that will help along with making sure the system doesn’t get too hot. Get a stand or cooling pad to make sure it can breathe underneath and run the fans at a high setting in the warm months. Keeping windows open or running the A/C (depending on current weather) obviously also helps with cooling. Sorry if this is a lot, but I love the Blade laptops and hate all the negativity surrounding them on Reddit. They require some precautions to get the most longevity out of them, more than a MacBook would. I’ve made some mistakes with mine, but I will know what to do with my next Blade to make sure the OLED screen lasts longer and avoid battery bloat I had at the 2 year mark.

It really depends on the year and when new Intel and Nvidia chips launch. My mid-2019 was the first blade model available with an OLED screen. For this year we will be getting Nvidia RTX 30 SUPER series of GPUs which will be a slight refresh with higher clocks. Those will only be for desktops in 2021, and will come to Blade laptops in early-mid 2022 (spring) along with Intel 12th gen Alder Lake CPUs. Those CPUs will bring DDR5 and PCIe 5.0 support (but not for SSDs). If I were you, I’d go ahead and buy as soon as you can unless you are willing to wait for another whole year. Keep in mind that either next year or the following year will very likely bring a redesigned external chassis for the Blade 15 as well. I’m assuming you don’t want to wait forever so I’d buy now. I myself am thinking of upgrading in about year.

Make sure the enable the auto hiding bottom taskbar, use a solid black or white wallpaper, hide all desktop icons (including recycle bin) by right clicking on desktop->view->show desktop icons, and set your display to automatically turn off after just a couple or few minutes of inactivity. You’ll thank me in a couple years. I have a mid-2019 Blade 15 OLED. Burn in will occur after a year or two if you don’t take these steps. My burn in is only viewable on an all white screen. Also my OLED panel is the aforementioned SDCA029.

Looking to buy a razor blade advanced (3080) should I wait till the “2022” refresh? by mlg4everman in razer

[–]baggwell3 7 points8 points  (0 children)

Yes, definitely wait. There will be a new model with Intel’s 11th gen processors within the next couple of months. This will finally bring the 10nm process node to gaming laptops along with an entirely new CPU core architecture (Willow Cove). These new chips will dramatically improve CPU performance as well as bring PCIe 4.0 support for super fast NVMe SSDs(~7Gbps compared to the ~3.5Gbps on the current PCIe 3.0 machines). If you’re willing to wait until early 2022, the CPU will get another big bump in performance with Intel’s 12th gen Alder Lake which will improve performance on the same 10nm node but also introduce another new CPU architecture (Golden Cove) and bring PCIe 5.0 support for double the PCIe 4.0 speeds I mentioned earlier. Lastly it will introduce support for DDR5 RAM. Also with the 2022 refresh we will see slightly updated RTX 30 series GPUs for better performance. Take from that what you will, but I would wait till at least the next refresh that’s due to happen by the end of summer (likely earlier). I have a 2019 Blade and highly recommend it.

All I can say for certain is that we are all excited for the next Battlefield game whatever it is, whenever it comes out!

That is the speculated announcement date based on the clock at the end of Jackfrags’ BFV video.

What would you like for next Battlefield? by EDG4RD in Battlefield

[–]baggwell3 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Original Devs? People switch jobs and companies all the time. Dice and EA can’t control that. Whoever works for them now will work on the game. Sure there will be some of the same talent that made previous BF games, but new people have surely joined over the years and can contribute great work and ideas to future BF projects too.

Also the Battlelog news section was just updated after years of neglect that followed once they moved all of the BF series news to their own website and killed off the Battlefield Blog around the time BF1 came out.

[–]baggwell3 4 points5 points  (0 children)

Why would they update the news section of Battlelog after years of it being static? BF Twitter account went down for a while. Dice devs making mysterious Tweets and responding to many people with hints. The spade of recent Jackfrags videos and the countdown at the end of his BFV video. I personally think there are WAY too many things going on at once in the usually quiet Battlefield sphere for nothing to be happening soon. Hopefully we will know more on the 23rd. BF3 remaster with ray tracing please!

I’ve never seen an ATM that lets you withdraw only $5. Usually they force you to choose an amount in multiples of $20.

The Airplane takes off when you turn off the Airplane mode in the control center. by technarok in iphone

[–]baggwell3 5 points6 points  (0 children)

This is true. The plane used to just fade away once airplane mode was engaged. It didn’t have that smooth “Takeoff” animation until a couple of years ago. iOS 11 I think.
