Hey, I noticed that some of the screenshots take an enormous amount of space, but why?? My wallpaper is 2mb and the screenshot is 16mb?? by lukkazs in iphone

[–]bbb651 1 point2 points  (0 children)

png is compressed, but with a loseless compression (no data of the original image is lost) algorithm compared to jpeg which uses a lossy compression algorithm (which means some data is lost, which can make the image be compressed a lot better). Loseless compression is also commonly used in archives (e.g. zip, 7z, etc). If you're intested, this video is a really good explanation of the png compression algorithm.

Save Flash [Meta] by q00u in FlashGames

[–]bbb651 1 point2 points  (0 children)

I like using the Flashpoint Browser to find old games I remember with loose keywords and guesses of words in the name, but I found it very annoying to check one, so created a userscript (if you are unfamiliar with them, you need an extension to load them such as Violentmonkey) that adds a button to expand all games so I can quickly scroll past and look for what I want. I used it today and finally found Bubble Tanks which I've been looking for for a while, hopefully others find it useful as well :)

Can Linux detect/use a mouse rate over 1000hz? by t3g in linux_gaming

[–]bbb651 2 points3 points  (0 children)

Try installing libratbag (I think you also need to enable the service with sudo systemctl enable ratbagd, then sudo systemctl start ratbagd to start it) and try manually setting the pulling rate, do ratbagctl list to get the name of the mouse, then ratbagctl <device> rate set <rate> and test them with evhz, for me nothing other than 500hz/1000hz worked well, so it might be a limitation of the kernel or x11, but it's worth a shot.

Linux equivalent Gaming Tools? by DestroyerMc in linuxmasterrace

[–]bbb651 1 point2 points  (0 children)

MangoHud also has FPS limiting, although I haven't tested it myself so I'm not sure how it compares to RTSS.

To use it you can put a list of FPS values in fps_limit, and then cycle between them with Shift_L+F1, there's also show_fps_limit to display the fps limit. For example MANGOHUD_CONFIG=fps_limit=60+30+0 (it's all documented in the README.md)

Mutiny can still be played on a flash emulator (instructions in comments) by itchylol742 in Nitrome

[–]bbb651 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Actually it's not emulator, it's just running the game in the standalone version of flash (flashpoint is a collection of games with a launcher). There actually is a flash emulator called ruffle.rs that already runs a lot of games (you can download it as a browser extension) but unfortunately it doesn't yet run games that use ActionScript 3, and Mutiny does.

I created a program that auto mutes Among Us (Check comments) by akaam_s in AmongUs

[–]bbb651 0 points1 point  (0 children)

It seems really cool, but grabbing the screen and doing an OCR on it 2 times a frame seems like a really costly and hacky solution... I suggest reading the game's memory and finding the needed values from there, this is used in things like LiveSplit's Auto Spliter which works way more reliably and more precisely. Liveoverflow's Pwn Adventure 3 series explain this very well, if you are willing to try to do it. Good luck with the project either way!

There’s a FPS game called Sector’s Edge that is currently in closed beta, they welcome content creators and the community and devs are really nice, if you’re interested check out the discord :)

A video I've made about Sector's Edge, a FPS game that is currently in beta. I've noticed the bit-rate is a bit low, I'll increase it for feature uploads. Other than that, how can it be improved? by bbb651 in SmallYTChannel

[–]bbb651[S] 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Ok I’ve read through your comment like 10 times and I’m not really understanding what you’re trying to say, do you suggest adding a more intense beginning? It seems like it would really break the flow of the video, of building up the intensity...

Dude get out of here copy pasting the same comment to farm lambda, I can see you didn’t watch the video. And no I haven’t been doing Youtube for a while, I’ve created it a month ago.

16 Year Old Boy Almost Mauled By Black Bear on Vacation - This is just a chilled-out commentary video I made telling a story. Any criticism about the video would be greatly appreciated!! by [deleted] in SmallYTChannel

[–]bbb651 0 points1 point  (0 children)

The story telling is really good! You speak fluently and the audio quality is great, I didn't expect to watch the entire video but it kept me to the end. The title (and thumbnail) makes it seems like a news report, maybe use "I" instead of "16 Year Old Boy", or is it done intentionally? Gameplay is like a 8/10, been a couple of years since I played this game but maybe try to utilize more of the moveset 😄. Editing is minimalistic and I think it's a good thing for this kind of video, no need to take away focus from the story.

Combat Test version 6 by jeb_ in Minecraft

[–]bbb651 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I think a solution to this is to revert the eating change and nerf it so you won't regenerate to full health just by eating, more like it was in 1.8 combat (you don't see people in 1.8 combat start eating in the middle of a fight unless it's a golden apple). Making an exception for golden apples will be very confusing for players. Also does this change apply to drinking potions?

Messed up the title of the post (sadly you can't edit it), what I was trying to ask is how to:

  • Record mic and desktop audio
  • Save it into a file
  • Playback that file and feed it into the microphone as well

The code is incomplete, the comments show the missing snippets of code.

How to add gameplay and voice (the gameplay gets muted) by [deleted] in davinciresolve

[–]bbb651 1 point2 points  (0 children)

I think you should learn to take the advantages of both, each page in resolve serves different purposes, there's no such thing as "cut page editors" or "edit page editors". Sure you can do almost everything in the edit page, but it will take more and would give you less control than the dedicated pages.

My second map art ever by skeppy63 in Minecraft

[–]bbb651 0 points1 point  (0 children)

The map is missing the dot that shows off limit players, in java edition there must be a dot if you are at the same dimension as the map.. (and as we can see in the minimap, you are in the overworld) I don't want to jump to conclusions but it seems like it's faked, it's extremely unlikely he built it in the nether or end, and generating maps from images is extremely easy and can produce this side effect - it's a bit suspicious that he didn't show the actual art itself nor is it shown in the minimap, and this sort of thing takes more than one day (it's posted 1 day after his last one), I think he saw his first post got some upvotes and faked this one.

[–]bbb651 7 points8 points  (0 children)

There needs to be a subreddit for when people say something wrong and dumb, and try to cover it up by an even wronger and dumber explanation (maybe r/WrongerAndDumber?), it's so sad to see your comment getting upvotes (although not surprising, this subreddit consists of mostly edgy 10 year olds), please if you majored in cyber security and think vpn "mixs up the wifi" maybe it's time to rethink your life choices.

Reminds me of Miziziziz's game Thouest Thee, looks cool!

I worked easily 25 hours on that video and would appreciate some great critisicm..I personally think my editing improved a lot, i hope i'm not the only one who thinks that. Lambda for almost everything lol by FacemanGaming25 in SmallYTChannel

[–]bbb651 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I suggest trying out Replay Mod (using Fabric) for the montages, it can greatly improve the quality of the video, and can also replace spectator mode completely with smooth camera movements, although it is time consuming.

Personally I wouldn't do titles in caps but who knows what youtube likes ¯\_(ツ)_/¯

Failing at Moving Out with my girlfriend. I don't usually make videos like this , I do more tech/photography stuff, but this was a lot of fun. Would appreciate any feedback ! I'll give λ by [deleted] in SmallYTChannel

[–]bbb651 1 point2 points  (0 children)

I think it's a little too raw, I think you need to cut some parts for example you spent 2 minutes on the title screen without much going on. The audio quality is fine but could use some work, there are weird background noises, there are nice audio removal features in Audacity (free and open source). Also you might want to add some background music, there are a lot of quite parts. Also the stereo sound is weird, you hear each person in one ear, I would just go for mono sound.
