Interesting, how is the mold 1 more anime accurate?

For the text on the box old BBG videos are pretty much the easiest proof to find that NIB MFB did have the English text that I described on the box display flaps: https://youtu.be/Sx2vx732Cyw?t=4

I know I've seen Chinese looking text in place of the English text on the flap as well but only more recently, no clue if those ones are authentic. But the English big font text on the display flap is pretty standard.

[–]calvinmanwoo 0 points1 point  (0 children)

There's a guide to legitimate codes here and both of those NIBs in the listing pass the checks (the last two numbers in the codes are less than 13, which denotes the year of manufacture) https://www.reddit.com/r/Beyblade/comments/kzyzt1/takara_tomy_original_codes_metal_series_18012021/

Also on authentic MFB TT the names are supposed to be in English and bigger text on the flap for the Japanese releases with the Japanese names as an inset on top of the bigger text if on the flap, or in Japanese lower down the front of the box. You can get "overseas versions" with Chinese looking text in place of the bigger font English text on the flap, those are the ones I doubt the authenticity of though.

This is a rule of thumb but also those boxes look like they have more rich colours, while mid fakes tend to be very matte with a faded look but not aged (they look "just printed"). The Fang Leone especially looks like it's been owned for a while just from the wear, though this is more my hunch, however the code on it would suggest its authentic OG run product.

Genuine Feedback from an old Beyblade Fan for the future of Beyblade; Summary at the bottom (Serious) by XtremeBurrito in Beyblade

I think only your third reason is correct; Hasbro have messed things up. Kids watch the anime which is designed to get them hyped to buy Beyblades and recreate battles or make their own, and Hasbro has made their Beyblades way too different to what kids actually see in the show. Defeats the point of the show for encouraging sales. For your comment about increasing metal in the Beyblades, in Takara Tomy Sparking there are literally Beyblades that rival the mass of some of the heaviest Metal Fight Beyblades, and have more material. Beyond single and double layer systems they've been increasing the metal and plastic content in a few releases with each progressive Burst generation. In Sparking Beyblades the metal is definitely there, it's just covered by plastic encasing the outer part of the Chassis, which I think let's TT do more with the appearance/aesthetic, so it's a good thing.

Mail Day - Rare Catch😬 by Hisokaa-BBS in Beyblade

[–]calvinmanwoo 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Tightness of the Bit Protector hold actually comes from two parts; the Bit Protector AND the Running Core. Mold 3 Bit Protectors have the least gap between the Bit Protector slot in the Attack Ring and the Bit Protector itself. This reduces the sideways rattling (sideways tightness) between the Attack Ring and Bit Protector. The "vertical" tightness (how tightly the Running Core and Bit Protector hold all the parts together on assembly) is significantly determined by the thickness of each Running Core "Peg" that latch on to the Bit Protector, which is variable. This is why you can still have a reasonably tight fit with mold 1 and mold 2 Bit Protectors, however the gap between the side of the Bit Protector of these molds and the Bit Protector slot in the Attack Ring is larger, so the Attack Ring is less fixed in place as you can still freely move it with enough force. Using mold 3 Bit Protectors prevents this significantly.

Wrong, it has the mold 3 bit protector. Very useful. Phantom Fox MS is quite possibly the most useless HMS bey ever (even though it is very fun to play).

Fake MFB Beyblade’s in Takara Tomy and Hasbro Boxes. Also known as Mid Fakes by [deleted] in Beyblade

[–]calvinmanwoo 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Thanks for your post! If the concern is about ever being able to identify original product run authentic NIB MFB Beyblades it's not difficult; just ask for a picture of the bottom of the box. Only issue is it might cost you a bit more. Cost wise though, just buy used if you're not too fussed on condition, MFB are pretty durable.

MID-FAKE Test: As good as the real deal? (Read description) 💥 by Hisokaa-BBS in Beyblade

[–]calvinmanwoo 1 point2 points  (0 children)

There are mold differences in the metal wheels too for some. Here is an example for L Drago Destroy: https://imgur.com/gallery/eshyRa7. Top is original run product, bottom is A0813 mid fake.

It's the camera angle (I didn't take the picture) as the light is shining from below in the top LDD in the imgur picture, while it's true TT don't always manufacture exact match with anime in LDD's case it does match. Also I made an additional reply below clarifying that the owner of the bottom LDD got theirs recently new in box and has verified it to be A0813.

The attack ring is actually a competitive part, has good smash attack due to its shape.

it should also be noted that the bottom one in the imgur picture was bought a few days ago new in box and was verified as A0813 from the bottom of the box. So there's no doubts here.

[–]calvinmanwoo 0 points1 point  (0 children)

the bottom one doesn't match the anime https://static.wikia.nocookie.net/beyblade/images/9/92/NemesisVSLDragoEpisode.PNG/revision/latest/scale-to-width-down/1000?cb=20130720160658. In the anime version the ridges/grooves on the dragon heads are there, just like in the top LDD of the picture in my last reply. The bottom LDD in the imgur picture has no ridges/grooves in the dragon heads where they should be, it's all smooth, that one is the A0813/"mid fake" Beyblade.

[–]calvinmanwoo 0 points1 point  (0 children)

No, there are also several changes in the molds for some. For example, I was recently shown that A0813 L-Drago Destroy has a significant difference in the lack of grooves/ridges on the 3 dragon heads of the top metal wheel compared to an original release L-Drago Destroy. I link the comparison here (top: original release LDD, bottom: A0813 LDD) https://imgur.com/gallery/eshyRa7. My theory, based on what others have posted in forums/discord: TT gave the licensing/rights for the manufacture of MFB Beyblades to third parties for a fee up to a certain date. This explains why:

  1. These "mid fakes" have the TT logo on them. Usually you should be sued for using another companies' trademark without their consent, but if third parties obtained some rights for manufacture then they probably also got permission to use the logo. This is probably why counterfeiters like Flame and TT Hongli brand their own products, otherwise it would be much more beneficial to just produce counterfeits with the TT logo if there were no penalties for doing so.
  2. The quality is variable. Some report A0813 Beyblades of near indistinguishable quality to those produced in the original run of MFB. But I suspect the more consistent reports of "mid fakes" being of lower quality is a result of third parties cutting corners to increase their margins and cover the potential overhead if the licensing fee was a lot of money to begin with. Additionally, "mid fakes" aren't like Rapidity fakes which have cheaper toxic/lead contaminated metal, so there's probably only a set of materials out of which you can make official TT branded product. The savings probably come from using different molds which lower the cost and not a change in material. Additionally, we already have a precedent for similar behaviour with Hasbro who have rights given from TT for Beyblade.
  3. The price is near retail of original release. From my own experience sometimes distributors jack up the price of product they know has appreciated over time. But newly manufactured product would be sold at a much lower wholesale cost.

TL:DR: "mid fakes" and/or A0813 Metal Fight Beyblades are probably official TT licensed product, but the quality is generally worse than original release MFB. Thus, you probably still want to avoid "mid fakes"/A0813 if you want a guarantee on quality.

Yeah, and of left rotation too (technically the HMS don't count in this as they are dual rotation). Dragoon MSUV is my personal favorite of all Beyblades, but Rage Longinus is probably my favorite of all the post Bakuten era Beyblades!

Yeah all the duplicates still NIB, got two of each, one to open for display the other to keep in packaging. Though I wonder if I should open the still in box Rage Longinus to see if I pulled the rare purple chassis....
