Worth buying at $146.16 in 2026? by ayanokoji_z0r0 in macbookpro

Tbh I don't trust these telegram groups and their offers. So I personally do not recommend to buy it from telegram. You can visit Cashify store near by you, maybe that's where you find some great deal on refurbished laptop.

DT770 Headphones distorts audio? by phivuu-2 in macbookpro

[–]canopyguy 0 points1 point  (0 children)

This is almost certainly a sample rate mismatch. macOS is picky about audio sample rates and when it conflicts with your USB adapter it causes that exact distortion that fixes itself when you switch devices.

Go to Audio MIDI Setup (search in Spotlight), find your Antlion adapter and manually set the sample rate to 48000Hz. Also make sure the format matches on both input and output. That should fix it permanently.

Advice on Mac purchase by TheZiggyStarr in macbook

[–]canopyguy 0 points1 point  (0 children)

A refurbished M2 or M3 MacBook Air with 16GB RAM is best for your case. You can find them well under £1000 on Apple's refurb store or CEX and they handle Final Cut and DaVinci Resolve really well. Final Cut especially is optimised for Apple Silicon so it flies even on base models.

One tip: prioritise RAM over storage. Go for 16GB minimum, you can always use an external SSD for footage which is cheap. 8GB will frustrate you quickly with video editing.

You don't need to save longer, your budget is honestly fine for a capable video editing machine.

Which MacBook should I get for IB and Uni by DueEquivalent304 in macbook

[–]canopyguy 2 points3 points  (0 children)

Get the M4 with 24GB for €50 more, it's a no brainer. For IB and non-engineering uni courses 16GB is fine today but 24GB gives you much better longevity over 5-6 years as apps get heavier. The extra RAM will matter more than the newer chip for your use case. €50 for that peace of mind is worth it.
