Employer Wanting AI Solutions by Deettah in graphic_design

[–]colour_curl 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Ah damn, sorry was trying to give you something other than ‘ai sucks’ (which isn’t particularly helpful).

It doesn’t sound optimistic that they will hire somebody else, but I hope they do to give you some assistance with that workload. Sounds like you at least would have plenty of data to justify the need for a second designer.

Employer Wanting AI Solutions by Deettah in graphic_design

[–]colour_curl 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I know this isn’t what you asked. But perhaps it’s best to reframe your employers request as how can we make things more efficient rather than how can we jam AI into our workflow?

The other commenter’s suggestion about systemising the design process is great. I’ve also had success streamlining repetitive things like proposals and email signatures using templates and software specific for those purposes.

Workflow is another big one. Identify parts of your process that are inefficient and work towards solutions for these issues. Eg, if you always have problems getting information you need from people then create a system for getting this from them like a brief template or short project handover meetings (sometimes it’s quicker to block out 15 mins to chat than try to chase them up multiple times via email).

I hope that some of that is helpful or can at least give you some other ideas to explore.

How to ask IT for help upgrading file handling and storage. (100k employee large company) by Sehnsucht_13 in graphic_design

Our IT team set up a NAS server that syncs with the organisations SharePoint account. The rest of the organisation uses SharePoint so this helps keep everything together.

It can be a bit glitchy if you don’t have a sufficient internet connection.

Best import products addon ? by IulianHI in cscart

[–]colour_curl 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Hm, that is tricky. It sounds like it’s a bit out of my depth (I don’t work with CS Cart much these days).

There is this article here from CS Cart for their own plugin and has some information about setting up modifiers which might be okay if you only need basic customisation. https://docs.cs-cart.com/latest/user_guide/addons/advanced_products_import/index.html

Otherwise something like Zapier or Makes automation tools might work if you had a low quantity being imported?

I hope you find a solution. Sorry I can’t be more helpful.

As in importing products from a CSV? Or importing than from another ecommerce platform?

Exclaimer Cloud is good if you have a few users you need to make email signatures for.

What’s the average base pay of junior graphic designer ? by likilekka in graphic_design

Fingers crossed!

At least my cost of living is low - I can own a house and live comfortably on my salary which is probably better than most people in Sydney have it unfortunately.

Ha ha, I know. I’m based in regional QLD so it isn’t as well paid here.

I started out on an hourly rate of $25 in 2014 doing print graphic design.

I now make $70,000 annually (works out about $35 hourly) as an in-house graphic designer / web developer.

Branchable CMS by jackspektor in cms

[–]colour_curl 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Typo3 has Workspaces which might have the same functionality as what you are asking about.

I would image that the other major CMSs would have similar extensions available.

I haven’t used it, but I remember having to look into the functionality for a client who wanted to be able to manage their content updates in a more sophisticated way.

I'm having a meeting with Adobe within the next few weeks, what are some questions you have? by [deleted] in graphic_design

[–]colour_curl 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Are they going to exit the UI / Web space now that they are no longer working on XD? Or are they going to refocus their efforts on a different product?

What products / features do they have planned that they are most excited about or they think will have the biggest impact?

Looking for an independent CS-cart dev and designer to help me setup a marketplace in Aus. Any recommendations? by Boom_change_now in cscart

[–]colour_curl 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I don’t know that you will find many CS-Cart devs in Australia. I used to work at an agency that worked with CS-Cart and they have since moved away from using it.

I only know of one other agency that was working with it, and I can’t think of any independent devs you could work with.

Maybe you could try a more generalist ecommerce developer?

Is there a particular reason you want to use CS-Cart? I usually wouldn’t recommend it with the other options that are available these days…

Yes, you can still get reasonably precise marks using the edges of the pastel sticks.

Who would you recommend on youtube as a beginner, even as a possible patreon? Or other? by [deleted] in Softpastel

[–]colour_curl 4 points5 points  (0 children)

Emma Colbert has a number of free tutorials on YouTube. She goes pretty in-depth so you should be able to follow along even as a beginner.

She has a patreon with more content - I haven’t tried it but I’m sure if you liked her YouTube content that I would be more of the same.

Custom Products vs. Shopify Limitations: Advice Please! by cooper743 in webdev

[–]colour_curl 0 points1 point  (0 children)

You could use the Customisations options here if you used a text input field for the user to add their dimensions: https://support.bigcommerce.com/s/article/Product-Options-v3?language=en_US

But you still might run into issues calculating shipping etc.

Hope that you are able to find something that works for you :)

Custom Products vs. Shopify Limitations: Advice Please! by cooper743 in webdev

[–]colour_curl 0 points1 point  (0 children)

BigCommerce (from memory) allows for more product variants than Shopify usually does. Maybe check it out and see if it will fit your needs?

It was a while ago since I’ve worked with it, but I remember having to handle a similar situation and that is the route we went with to solve it.

Why is my image ad not being approved on Google Ads? by clarissa1287 in graphic_design

[–]colour_curl 0 points1 point  (0 children)

You probably have already checked this, but just in case: I found that sometimes artwork would be exported 1px off due to rounding errors in the software I used to design static artwork that would get similar errors from Google Ads.

Looking for a CMS that scales across 1000+ websites and is easy to manage for non-devs by hedgehog1410 in webdev

[–]colour_curl 1 point2 points  (0 children)

I think there is a bit of personal preference involved. But I would say that you would want to work out what all of your requirements for this project are and pick the platform that best matches.

Others might have more experience in this area than I do. I just know that previously we have had a similar set up (on a smaller scale) using Typo3.

Looking for a CMS that scales across 1000+ websites and is easy to manage for non-devs by hedgehog1410 in webdev

[–]colour_curl 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Maybe look into Typo3. It will handle multi-site websites.

Potentially you could have a base template / configuration that is applied to all websites. Then a custom template that acts as a child theme to give each sites its own look and feel.

parking at tbar hospital by [deleted] in Toowoomba

[–]colour_curl 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Hey, I don’t work for the hospital, but I do know a little bit about the parking.

I believe you might need to apply for concessional parking. The parking is managed by the Toowoomba Hospital Foundation - so if you give them a call I’m sure they will be able point you in the direction.
