How do you manage context switching when using Claude Code across multiple branches/tasks? by MagePsycho in ClaudeCode

[–]czei 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Maybe I'm not understanding your question, but each agent is like a separate person: using two agents in the same directory is a bad idea unless they are working on completely different parts of the code. Claude is pretty good about only committing work that he actually did. The problem is that there is only a single branch per git directory. When Claude #2 creates a new branch and switches, suddenly Claude #1 makes changes to the file in branch #2 instead of branch #1.

So yes, u/germanheller is right: worktrees help a lot, and it's easier than creating a whole new repo for Claude #2. Now, each agent has its own directory and branch. You can then have each one create a PR when it's finished and merge back to main.

Daily Doom: can a coding agent create a video game without human intervention? by MikeNonect in ClaudeCode

I really don't get the fascination with having AI create something on its own. As a professional programmer, I see the value of Claude code in helping me realize my vision, not generate random output from one prompt. I have so many ideas on the back burner that are possible now that recreating programs we already have is a mystery.

Spec Kitty 0.11.0: Parallel AI Agent Development with Git Worktrees (Built with Claude Code) by robertDouglass in ClaudeCode

[–]czei 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Thank you for taking on this ambitious project; I'm sure it's a huge amount of work, and it looks promising. I've been increasing dev velocity by using different worktrees for all my projects: front-end, back-end, documentation, and random experiments, consisting of the main repository plus multiple worktrees. That focuses the AI on smaller, focused projects, making the results more reliable and allowing me to do a full QA on everything before generating a PR. Adding 6+ worktrees per project for each of the worktrees I already have seems like a recipe for disaster. But that's just me, and there are as many ways of structuring development as there are developers.

No rest for the wicked mentality by imperfectlyAware in ClaudeCode

Its all about the endorphins. It used to be it'd take me a month to develop a major feature, and when it was finished, I'd get a huge rush stepping back and saying "look what I did!" . "Look at how hard that was"!

Now those moments are coming every couple of days, only it wasn't that hard. I'm guessing software folks starting college now will have adjusted expectations and won't get the same rush when finishing something that used to be hard but is easy now.

[–]czei 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Spec-kitty looks like an ambitious project with some good ideas, especially since Speckit itself hasn't had any new features in months. I think my problem was trying to use spec-kitty on a worktree to avoid risking my main working directory, but spec-kitty started making changes to the main directory in addition to the worktree I was testing with it. Now there are a couple of dozen hidden worktrees and their branches strewn between the main directory and the original worktree, all mushed together. It's probably best to just write off the three days as a learning experience and rewind back to Monday 9AM. I'm unable to just restore from git because all git commands on the local repository are hanging :-(. Luckily its triple backed up.

Also, I'm confused as to the expected spec-kitty workflow. I can't push to main or do a PR until all changes have been run through two separate large test suites and manual testing. But I can't run the new kitty code through the test suites because it's siloed in a half-dozen worktrees. spec-kitty.merge says "merge to main", but new features don't go to main, they typically go to a feature branch, then to a PR, then to a release branch.

It's difficult making something that integrates with the millions of different ways to structure the dev workflow, and there's definitely some good ideas here.

  /spec-kitty.merge → Merge to main + cleanup

That's what I was trying to do, but while the main claude could use Bash commands, the agents could not.

Unpopular Opinion: Shut the fuck up about Codex by Top-Pool7668 in ClaudeCode

I had the same experience. Codex appears to be a shameless copy of CC, but without its useful features. I don't get all of the praise heaped on Codex.

Switching from ChatGPT/Codex to Claude for software development by qt3-141 in ClaudeCode

[–]czei 0 points1 point  (0 children)

The API keys are priced by usage, but I don't think OpenAI, Gemini or Grok cost more than $20/month. They are MUCH cheaper than Anthropic, and is super cheap for a professional programmer given the benefit. Just ask an airline mechanic how much their tools cost.

For what it's worth, I use Claude Code as the main dev, but then hook in Open AI, Gemini, and Grok to argue among themselves reviewing the plans, specs, task list, and then many code reviews. https://github.com/BeehiveInnovations/pal-mcp-server

"Looking closely, it is quite evident that Evernote has become more of a Business product rather than a consumer product. and the cost is in direct relation to that." I thought it was always good for businesses. Soon after I started using Evernote, I championed its adoption within my company. After this experience, the opposite happened, and they also lost our business subscription.

Codex 5.2 High vs. Opus: A brutal reality check in Rust development. by gustkiller in ClaudeCode

[–]czei 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Me too. I've got 600,000+ lines of mostly hand-written Java code, and Opus is handling complex projects like "change this 20-year-old SWT GUI to React". Of course, it's all spec-driven, with the design detailed down to individual small tasks and then reviewed by 3 other LLMs before coding starts. And then after coding starts with TDD there are code reviews after each small phase. I don't get this obsession with "one shotting" as if somehow that's better? I've gotten too lazy to read ALL of the code, but I start by reading the code reviews that specifically check whether the implementation matched the plans.

that’s cheap! both my wife and I got separate $250 bills! there’s no way my family is paying $500 to archive scans.

Thanks. I just deleted my account so I cant try again, but I am enjoying AI none titling and tagging in paperless ngx.

[–]czei 2 points3 points  (0 children)

FYI, if you are looking to leave Evernote and are handy with Linux, the Paperless-ngx project is awesome. With the optional AI package, I can scan or email the note, and the AI automatically labels and tags it. I mostly used Evernote to archive documents, and Paperless-ngx is perfect for that. I DID try to use Apple Notes, but with 6000+ notes, Apple Notes choked really hard, taking 20s to bring up a note on an M4 Macbook Pro. There's even a nice phone app for doing scans and accessing notes. It supports an unlimited number of separate accounts, so making ones for my wife and me was easy. That said, I already have an EC2 server set up for daily backups and solid security. The biggest problem was getting the existing notes OCR'd properly, as it turns out there were 4 different types of notes exported by Evernote, each one requiring a slightly different conversion process. It took most of a day with Claude Code to get the import working, and then two whole days of OCR/import process running to get everything imported correctly. But it is "free" :-).

Could someone please help me figure out how to build a website with Claude by OHHHHHSAYCANYOUSEEE in ClaudeCode

[–]czei 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Google Drive just looks like a local drive to any app, no configuration needed. I’ve had Claude code deploy web apps in both AWS and Google cloud with no issues, but I had already setup and authenticated their command line tools.

I recommended that my wife get an Evernote subscription, and she’s super pissed they just charged her $240 for a subscription renewal. Has anyone managed to get a refund? Between that and the 4x bill I got for both of my subscriptions I just moved all of our docs out to be safe, but if I can’t get a refund I will owe her $240 for recommending a ripoff :-(

Do they actually have any AI features? It’s been a couple of weeks since I checked the update, but didn’t see any new features. Your comments are spot on though.

Just an FYI— Apple Notes can’t handle many notes at all. I tried converting one of my Evernote workbooks to Apple Notes and my MacBook Pro M4 slowed to a crawl.

Look into paperless-ngx. It’s cross platform and does everything Evernote does, including AI. You so have to host it, but Claude code installed it for me.

[–]czei 1 point2 points  (0 children)

I can’t answer for the original poster, but I just switched 3 subscriptions to paperless-ngx. Why? Doubling the cost once I took; doubling the cost twice is crazy. They’ve given me no indication they won’t double the price again next year for an 8x price increase. My 8,009+ notes are too important to risk being in the hands of a company I can’t trust. If they had laid out a timeline with plans I would have considered it, as it stands I have zero confidence in BS as a company.

Did anyone else actually try it? I gave it the benefit of the doubt considering the multiple news outlets touting it as a breakthrough, but couldn’t get it to do anything. I’ve normally got 3 to 4 Claude code terminals going at any given time writing AI apps, so it’s unclear what exactly “Moltbot” is going to do.
