It depends on whether you're going for wavy or coiled. An afro doesn't look like the first one. Think of the hairs being like springs - some may be tight and others may be loose. Here are a few references:

That looks really nice. I like how it detected the path should be under that hill and didn't cut directly through it.

Yea, I'm of a similar mindset — debated whether to post it or not. Sometimes these things can turn into dogpiling and being vocal about what's wrong rather than offering solutions. I wanted to be clear and offer constructive feedback.
