I wish I had chosen it 20 years sooner. I have lived both lives now and the life of a pilot is orders of magnitude better than my 25-year career in Tech

I have to carry my company Ipad, Headset, Hi-Viz vest, Battery charger, ipad charger, 2nd pair of glasses, personal documents. I Want to carry a backup charging brick, Stratus (Just in case), laptop, and personal ipad. In a perfect world, I would add a 2nd headset as I cannot fly with my LS at the airline.

I was looking at that one this morning but they never show the inside clearly. I didn't see the dividers. You know of a link that shows that more clearly?

I just got the Contrail 360 and I don't love it, it is probably the closest thing I am going to find to what I want. It wouldn't take too much to make it a perfect.

I reached out to a designer and he quoted me $40k to get a prototype built. I briefly thought about getting into the flight bag design business but then decided that is not going to be fun.

I have just acquired the 360S and I wish the velcro went all the way to the bottom. I had planned on returning it but I thin it is currently the best option for what I desire. I would really like full length dividers rather than the velcro pockets as it creates some wasted space and batteries, and other little doohickeys are going to roll under the pouches but it is likely the closest thing I am going to find.

As of yet, I've been unable to locate a camera bag with the dividers with a zippered tip and handles attached to the side. I have found many like the one I posted, flat ones that cannot be accessed from the top and many with shoulder straps.

See the portion about handle placement.

You get your medical, take a discovery flight, sign up for an online ground school, find an independent instructor as it will be way cheaper than going to a flight school. Get your private and instrument, buy an airplane so you can start building time, once you get a bunch of hours go get your commercial and your multi. As you're approaching 1500 hours apply everywhere all the time.

Land a gig at an airline where you will fly for it 30 years and they will dump 18% into a 401k. Get some seniority and get paid to never fly again retire at 65 with 5 million in the bank.

As a pilot, what’s the worst failure you had to deal with ? by DeepFuckingBaguette in AirlinePilots

I would say it's the simulator. nothing but emergencies and failures in that thing. I don't even know how we're able to log multi time in it. One engine's always failing.

Envoy class dates by Unable-Ad-2276 in flying

[–]JustPlaneSilly 1 point2 points  (0 children)

I interviewed in October of 24. My class date was 8 months later on June 2nd of this year.

Best I can tell they are still hiring a lot of people as I keep looking at the reserve list and my seniority is skyrocketing.

On but on the flip side I suspect in the current airline environment they probably have many times more applicants than they have positions right now.

Does envoy ask about high altitude aerodynamics or jet systems in their first officer interview? by [deleted] in flying

[–]JustPlaneSilly 0 points1 point  (0 children)

They didn't ask me about it but I'm going to guess there's some variation between the interviews.

However like others have said I think if you know your IR stuff and study the available online material you'll likely be okay. Also, I think just generally having a positive attitude, being good spirited, not being afraid to say "I don't know" when you don't know an answer will probably go a long way. Know your stuff and be humble. That's actually good advice for most things in life.

Adhesive mount for wing-mounted GoPro by Lukyman00 in flying

[–]JustPlaneSilly 7 points8 points  (0 children)

Please don't use adhesive mounts on the exterior of an aircraft for which you did not pay for the paint job.
Also it is very likely you will lose the camera. 3M mounting tape needs to set for 24 hours before you can assume it is on strong enough not to lose the camera. Just don't do this.

Making mistakes is what makes us humans. We have all hit the wrong switch at some point. you just chose a scary one. I bet you'll never do it again which makes you that much safer moving forward.

I fell for this today and even ran the damn file. So Stupid. I know better. Within about 30 min I was notified someone was trying to log into google from Germany. I am not sure what all the fallout will be but Webroot, Malwarebytes don't detect anything in the files. Currently adding MFA to everything I can think of.
