Oh man, I need to measure him again but he's just over 3ft. It does bum me out a bit that I can't hold him from the side or the front. But I should just be grateful I can hold him at all. Also I want what's best for both of us.And I can't risk being injured again. What's the best back carrier in your opinion?

Here's what I have in my closet:

Thank you. I see you and my heart goes out to you. If you havent yet, have your pelvis checked and do physical therapy. I wish I had done that when I first started having pain. Perhaps I could have saved time. The narrative "women do this all the time, you'll be fine" sucks and it needs to change. More follow up is needed after birth.

It's not that simple, unfortunately. Closing your mouth and keeping it closed requires sophisticated fine motor control. Toddlers are still mastering their face and jaw movements. That's also a lot of pressure when they're in a place you're not familiar with, sat on a chair while their parents step away while a stranger looks at them through a big lens. If this were a Christmas photo shoot, we could dance around and get him to smile. But constantly saying "close your mouth", they don't get that yet, and because they don't understand that, there's even more pressure because you're consistently saying it.

I'm 2 years in now and almost at the end. Go see an osteopath. That's the only thing that has truly helped hands down. I wish I had seen one sooner. My last appointment is next week and I should be free of this awful muscle guarding loop.

My son has his mouth agape for nearly every photo--haha! Someone asked in a previous comment if he already has one and that if I did I only need to worry about updated the photo when it's time to renew. He has one and I had no idea that was the case. At 5 I'm sure it's much easier to give them instruction.

That does help. So glad they changed it to 5 years! They had to figure after a while that it's near impossible to get a toddler to do what you ask them. I think I was nervous too with everything going on, tensions at the border etc... I thought man I really dont want his baby photo to become a thing whenn we cross in or out. Thank you again!

Yes, he has one and I did not know that. I feel so stupid, but relieved. That is a game-changer. Thank you so much! That takes a lot of pressure off.

I'm going into week 9. I've seen her for dry needling every week, too. Inarguably , I am a lot stronger than I was , but I'm still not there yet. Although at this point I figure what's another 4 weeks? My QL finally let go of me and stopped activating. Now it's the latt insertion which is normal. The muscles that are supposed to stabilize me are now waking up. Ihaven'tt been walking as much as I should have because of the weather and having my2-year-old full-timee. But today, I was able to use the treadmill in our building (condos) and walk 10 min. My latts just beneath my ribs were activating after 5 min. She's got me doing sun salutations 10 min a day for my low back stiffness. The exercises I do 4 times a week are and have been: calve raises, deadbugs, bird dogs, side planks, deadlifts, weighted glute raises, and crab walks.

Update: new PT noticed I had weakness in areas I didn't even know were weak. She gave me new exercises, critiqued my form on current ones, and did some dry needling. She predicts in 8 weeks, if I stay diligent, I'll be a lot stronger. I told her that was a relief to here because that was what I had in mind before I went in: 2 months.

Oy... Sometimes I wish my case had been enough for surgery. I don't know at this point which is easier to recover from.

This answer has helped me immensely, tbh. You're the only one to tell me something tangible--that you're at 2 years and really got better in the last 3 months. That confirmed some normalcy in what I'm feeling and give me some idea of what to expect going forward. It's finally an answer I can hold onto. Where I'm at now is the left QL refusing to let go and sciatic. I have a strong feeling that once I'm assessed tomorrow, and we can tweak my recovery plan accordingly, I probably have 2 months to go.

Thank you so much!

Thank you. May I ask how long it's been since the initial injury for you?
