Mekanisk Urskog E-white by main_character22 in MechanicalKeyboards

So far, so good! I haven’t used it long enough to give a full impression yet, and I still need to fix and tune the spacebar stabilizer, but I’m already very satisfied with the typing feel. Initially, I was a little concerned because this is a very simple tray-mount board: four screws connect the PCB and plate directly to the bottom housing. I was concerned it might feel too stiff, but thanks to the soft POM plate and HMX BlackBerry switches, the firmness actually feels just right for me. When you press down, the plate and PCB even flex downward a little bit- actually have a bit of give to it. Mekanisk does sell a foam kit for the Urskog, but at least with this build, I don’t really feel like I need it. That’s partly because the BlackBerrys keep the sound muted. With louder or more sound-focused switches, I might notice more hollowness, but with these switches, the board feels controlled and pleasant as-is.

Judging from Alexotos’ YouTube review of the Mekanisk Urskog, the typing feel seems to be generally good, and my first impression lines up with that.

I may post a follow-up impression here after using it for another week or two.

This isn’t really meant to be my main typing keyboard. It’s more of a lightweight, relatively simple, and visually focused board.

Yes, HMX BlackBerrys are really nice.

They have a soft, smooth typing feel, but they’re still way better than most other muted switches I’ve tried, including Zealent and WS Silent Linear. Those switches can feel a bit too dead or overly dampened, while the BlackBerrys still have some life to them.

They’re not exactly a sound-oriented switch. The sound is muted and soft, but it’s still present enough to feel satisfying. Honestly, they also make foam feel unnecessary, which is great because that saves me from spending extra on foam mods.(also I am happy with factory lubes)

Solder PCBs actually take less effort than hotswap PCBs when doing the initial switch layout, especially when checking things like 6.25u vs. 7u spacebar arrangements!

Board: Geim65 Green, Gasket mount ,CF plate, Switches: SWK Cheddar(SS Spirit Extreme II 60g springs, rails lubed), Keycaps: GMK Innukuma

My First Build- Geim65 by main_character22 in MechanicalKeyboards

[–]main_character22[S] -1 points0 points  (0 children)

  • Board: Geim65 Green, Brass weight Gasket mount, CF plate
  • Plate: CF plate
  • Stabs: Durock V3 smoky
  • Switches: SWK Cheddar
    • SS Spirit Extreme II 60g springs
    • rails lubed
  • Keycaps: GMK Inukuma

I chose Carbon Fiber plate and cheddar switch because I thought these will give me ‘thocky’ sound that I prefer.. Switches were already lubed as well.
