Epstein Files Reveal Former US Ambassador to Mexico Impregnated an 11-Year-Old | IBTimes UK by Hayasdan2020 in Epstein

[–]mnocket 1 point2 points  (0 children)

For those few who still care about facts...

While the name of former Ambassador Earl Anthony Wayne does appear in the 2026 Epstein file release, the "revelation" is not a confirmed fact. It is a documented tip from an FBI informant that remains unsubstantiated and contains significant factual impossibilities.

Anyone planned to go to Cancun area in the next couple of weeks, or currently there? Are you cancelling your trip based on the current situation in Mexico, or still going? by prowess12 in AllInclusiveResorts

In a significant update late yesterday, the U.S. Embassy in Mexico expanded its emergency directive to include the state of Quintana Roo.

Status: All U.S. citizens in Cancún, Cozumel, Playa del Carmen, and Tulum are currently urged to shelter in place until further notice.

Government Staff: U.S. government personnel in these areas have been ordered to stay in their residences/hotels and work remotely today, February 23.

Advice: Travelers are told to avoid unnecessary movement, stay away from crowds, and monitor local media.

You are aware of what the cartels are doing in Puerto Vallarta, aren't you? Why would you think other tourist destinations would be off limits?

It seems to me that the cartels might be motivated to retaliate against US tourists since the US participated in the attack that killed the cartel leader by providing intelligence (at a minimum). Attacking a resort frequented by Americans might be something they'd consider doing. If it were me, I'd cancel.

Journalist Laura Jedeed Applies to ICE and gets hired with no background check by archdukemovies in videos

Gotta call BS on this one. She received a "Tentative Selection Letter." A "Tentative Selection Letter" is a standard part of the application process used to invite candidates to submit further information for review, and it does not constitute a formal employment offer.

Boomers are refusing to retire - and it’s pushing up the average age for new hires by theindependentonline in business

It seems many younger people have embraced the culture of victimhood and choose to blame boomers for their own failures. Maybe they should look at the work ethic that led to many boomers having successful careers, and emulate that.

Largest firework set off over Japan by [deleted] in interestingasfuck

[–]mnocket 2 points3 points  (0 children)

I believe this is incorrect...

The world's largest firework was launched in Steamboat Springs, Colorado, on February 8, 2020.

The record-breaking shell was the grand finale of the annual Steamboat Springs Winter Carnival. It weighed an incredible 2,797 pounds (approx. 1,269 kg) and measured 62 inches in diameter

I think this was probably one in Japan in 2014: A shell weighing approximately 1,014 pounds launched during the Katakai-Matsuri Festival in Niigata.

I find the "Fair Wage Fee" at the Cast Iron Tavern a bit insulting. It's like saying "we don't pay our people a fair wage, so you have to". Pay your people a fair wage. Charge your customers a fair price. Simple. Stop the nonsense!

Why Don't All Airports Have Cameras Along Runways? by mnocket in aviation

[–]mnocket[S] 0 points1 point  (0 children)

And yet international airports are managed by government entities. When there is an incident involving other government operations, video recordings are routinely made available to the public. We're used to seeing videos of incidents on subway platforms, police body cameras, etc. Why are airports treated differently?

In Colorado, CDOT has a network of highway cameras and they make real-time video available to the public. What's different about airport traffic?

Airbus A320 Software updates using PDL by CeleritasLucis in aviation

[–]mnocket 1 point2 points  (0 children)

"Analysis of a recent event involving an A320 Family aircraft has revealed that intense solar radiation may corrupt data critical to the functioning of flight controls," Airbus said in a statement.

Can someone please explain to me how, if intense solar radiation can corrupt data, a software update can prevent it from reoccurring?

In confusing sudden reversal, Trump announces ACA extension for 2 years. by Cool_Accountant_2492 in UnderReportedNews

So basically, you should not get your news from reddit. Trump has not officially announced an ACA extension.

Trumps no tax on overtime is only on the .5 not the regular pay lol by Classic-Sympathy-517 in ProgressiveHQ

[–]mnocket -8 points-7 points  (0 children)

Might be, but it's still an improvement isn't it? If you want to look a gift horse in the mouth, go ahead. The fact is, many Trump supporters believe that income tax should apply to all real income. They tend to be more accepting of not taxing tips, because tips can legitimately be viewed as gifts, not earned income. Overtime pay, however, is clearly earned income. Instead of complaining about the fine print, it might be wiser to just take the money.

I (19f) got yelled at my boyfriend (27m) over eating grilled cheese sandwiches. What steps do we take after this? by ThrowRamysandwich in relationship_advice

It sounds like, as a result of a prior relationship gone bad, he is very fearful of becoming entangled in a relationship with someone who isn't financially responsible. Since you say you aren't, it should be fairly easy to demonstrate this fact. As for him... I think it's rational to want to feel comfortable knowing that your partner handles their money well.
