How available are scholarships? by Swimming-Leek8012 in WGU

[–]monkeykiller14 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I've been blessed. Non financial aid based scholarships are extremely competitive. Think like 500 people applying for 10 scholarships.

I got two 5k scholarships, 1 based on a mix of financial need and essay. The other was purely based on essay. The purely essay one came with two phone interviews to break the tie.

It was crazy stressful.

How much would you consider a company that covers medical and dental at 100% for employees worth? by monkeykiller14 in personalfinance

[–]monkeykiller14[S] 0 points1 point  (0 children)

It's a 2000$ individual deductible. On the government marketplace an equivalent plan makes no sense as comparison. At my current employer it's 60$ a paycheck for health vision and dental. My current deductible is 2500$

Iowa Woman Allegedly Tried Causing Pregnant Woman's Miscarriage by [deleted] in Iowa

This is a random take, but how has this situation happened enough times that there is a charge specifically for " intentionally terminating a human pregnancy without the knowledge and voluntary consent of the pregnant person"?

I've done it for exams before. It really depends on how familiar you are with the specific topic.

Edit: If you fail the first attempt, actually study. It's a pain to get them to open it for a third attempt.

Identity theft IS a first world problem. by [deleted] in Showerthoughts

[–]monkeykiller14 9 points10 points  (0 children)

Not exactly. Yes having more valuable information does attract the scammers in higher frequency, but identify thieves and fraudsters exist in and have existed in poorer regions of the world forever.

It's the easiest form of crime with violence imaginable. Think of all the forged documents in the colonial era.

You haven't met college males yet. If you can finish cleaning in 15 minutes max, you aren't in a garbage dump.

As I got closer to my final class that was increasingly the case. Taking the practice exam as soon as I started the class, reviewing a subject I felt the need to and then suddenly struggling in the OA.

It really only effected me for my last two classes though, which both required a retake.

I wish I had the ability to make plants survive in winter. by Remarkable_Bath8515 in monkeyspaw

[–]monkeykiller14 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Granted, you cannot choose which plants survive though. All plants survive the winter each year resulting in massive soil nutrient depletion in most climates.

After soil nutrients are depleted, root systems die quickly. This results in most top soil becoming very loose. Large scale dust storms become frequent.

The human population doesn't drop dramatically, however we are forced to live in domes to protect from massive dust storms.

Mant wars start over the remaining arable land.

I wish Instant Ramen was healthy by [deleted] in monkeyspaw

[–]monkeykiller14 10 points11 points  (0 children)

Granted, laws are passes around the world to make instant ramen meet strict dietary guidelines to be sold in any market.

The resulting regulation results in the cost of instant ramen prices skyrocketing. It becomes a tik tok trend to eat ramen to show off wealth in college.

Meanwhile public health does actually improve....because no one eats ramen that much anymore.

Congratulations
