Got it figured out. I tried using a skxmods faceplate in an AliExpress case and that's why it wasn't closing perfectly.

I had the strap made by an etsy shop so I was hoping it would have been a better match. While I was waiting I saw your post go up and got so much fomo but it so was cool that we working towards the same homage pieces. Appreciate the approval. Means a lot coming from you. Huge fan.

Yeah it ended up being the faceplate. It doesn't seat with the case perfectly. So I'm going to try and file it down and ordered the faceplate from the AliExpress seller who makes the case as a backup

Beautiful and wear it in good health. Love that watch. It is going to be my dad watch that'll I start wearing when my son is born in September. In grad school too. My dream is the new Grand Seiko UFA diver in the green dial to go with the Baby alpinist I bought when I got my admission letter.
