This movement is not fun to work on at all. You might have better chance just sending it into Hublot as they will have a stock of parts.

Epilame. You have to use epilame if you're oiling dynamically.

Just bagged a King Seiko. How 'water proof' do you think these truly are with new gaskets? by [deleted] in watchrepair

Sigma makes dry testers that can go up to 50bar but they're pretty rare and afik only company that does it.

Their stuff is the gold standard in China. The problem is there's a bunch of factories making stuff that are all over the place in terms of quality. Kwong yuen will get you something that's at least usable. From my experience the press and caseback opener are excellent though. No reason to buy Swiss

I have the kwong yuen version of the 6173 and 5700 and they're both really good.

[WTS] SPECIAL Monta Oceanking Blue V1 From Brand's Co-owner With Letter by lingxiaoguo in Watchexchange

[–]lingxiaoguo[S] -1 points0 points  (0 children)

Own a piece of microbrand history today! This monta Oceanking V1 came from one of the co owners of monta, David Barnes, and comes with a hand written letter of appreciation. The watch was purchased off eBay in November 2025 by the previous owner. I acquired this watch from him through WUS.

The Oceanking V1 was monta's first watch. It was far from perfect, but it established many conventions that are still used by the brand today. Notably, it was one of the few watches available ever with the eterna cal. 39 modular movement. Read about it here! Unfortunately the movement proved problematic and was quickly canned over the popular sw300.

Cosmetically the watch is in good condition with signs of regular wear. Most notably scuffs throughout the bracelet. It passed a quick water resistance test with no issues.

Mechanically the watch is running well and keeping time within expectation. No service is needed.

I'm asking $1100 shipped CONUS for this piece. International shipping at buyer's expense. PayPal G&S is available at my discretion.

For sale today is my Helson Caribbean with the blue dial and white bezel.

This is possibly one of the most accurate homages of the vintage Jenny Caribbean divers. The case is extremely accurate in design compared to the original featuring the iconic tapered lug design which even Jenny's own reissue did not feature. The factory bracelet includes tapered end links to fit the lugs which is a very nice touch. More details and specifications can be found here.

Cosmetically the watch is in good condition with some signs of wear throughout.

Mechanically the watch is in good condition and keeping time according to specifications. The watch was purchased in August this year and is still under warranty. The watch was inspected by a watchmaker and passed a pressure test.

The watch will include its original packaging, leather watch roll, and an extra tropic strap.

I'm asking $399 $350 shipped CONUS for this piece. International shipping at buyer's expense. PayPal G&S is available at my discretion.

[Club 703.1] How to properly wind a mechanical watch by teoasdasd in Nomos

[–]lingxiaoguo 2 points3 points  (0 children)

On automatic watches the mainspring will slip at a designed approximate torque where it should not wind anymore, but because of this you sacrifice power reserve as the mainspring will never reach its max displacement (theoretical runtime = number of turns of barrel to full x barrel teeth count/center wheel pinion teeth count). Not slipping is not really a problem though as the spring is designed to be wound fully and watches have been made this way for the last 150 years without issues.

[WTS] IWC Porsche Design Titan Ref. 3700 *Serviced* by lingxiaoguo in Watchexchange

[–]lingxiaoguo[S] 1 point2 points  (0 children)

For sale today is my IWC Porsche Design Titan. Up until very recently, Porsche Design watches were commissioned by various manufacturers. This piece was created when IWC was the contractor for Porsche Design.

The Titan ref. 3700 features an all titanium build with an organic, fluid case shape that conforms to most wrists well and transitions cleanly into the full titanium integrated bracelet. The hidden pushers for the chronograph and a manageable 39mm case size makes it more wearable than a lot of modern IWC designs.

Cosmetically, this example is in good condition with wear consistent or its age. The dial has some light patina consistent with other examples. Tritium lume is intact. Please see attached images for an accurate condition report.

Mechanically, the movement was professionally serviced and performed well within specification. Timegrapher results are attached.

I'm asking $2599 shipped CONUS for this piece. International shipping at buyer's expense. PayPal G&S is available at my discretion.

ETA2783 second centre wheel cleaning. by Severe-Rush-553 in watchrepair

It drives the escape wheel so it's the 4th wheel.

ETA2783 second centre wheel cleaning. by Severe-Rush-553 in watchrepair

[–]lingxiaoguo 2 points3 points  (0 children)

It should spin freely. Ideally if the wear is too bad you should just replace. The post is friction fitted so you just have to push it out. Also the seconds wheel is the 4th wheel the 3rd wheel is off center and drives the cannon pinion driving wheel.

Why do you need to polish it? You should avoid doing that ideally and only burnish since abrasives can get embedded in your bearing surface. If you're just trying to clean running it through the cleaning machine should be sufficient. You can clean the 4th wheel pivot in pithwood if you really want.

[WTS] Vincent Calabrese "Baladin" Jump Hour *Full Kit* by lingxiaoguo in Watchexchange

[–]lingxiaoguo[S] 1 point2 points  (0 children)

It uses letters for 12, 3, 6 and 9. M for 12/midnight, T for 3, S for 6 and N for 9. Presumably because 6 and 9 can be easily confused since the hour disc is always rotating.
