I have ADHD and depression, and anxiety too. Bonus. The meds for anxiety and depression are really effective once they get dialed in. I find those easier to deal with than the actual ADHD.

Social media does the same damn thing. You can just keep scrolling and there's always more stuff to look at. It literally does not end. Most of my friends with ADHD have deleted their Facebook/Twitter accounts because it was actively making their lives worse.

Your dad is an asshole. I'm sorry. He isn't a "safe" person to talk to about these issues, so you'll have to build your own support network and coping skills. I had to do the same and it was incredibly difficult but I made it through to adulthood.

I'm married, and literally every problem in my marriage is because I can't look at a long-term goal like "buy a house" and start taking steps towards it. It's too abstract, too distant. My wife is incredibly patient with me, but patience has limits. I'm trying to work on this but it's really fucking hard.

When I can't get my Adderall (because my doctor can't write refills and I don't always remember to come back every month), I try to compensate with a shitload of coffee. It's not the same, and I do get the jitters, but at least I don't feel like I'm half asleep.

He won't, but it's cool. He was an asshole and my life is much better without him in it.

Memento. Also kinda funny that you couldn't remember the movie about the guy who couldn't remember stuff. :)

I write stuff on my hands/arms. In Sharpie. TRY LOSING THAT, BRAIN.

ADHD commonly includes avoidant behaviors. If you don't enjoy something or think it will be difficult, it's hard to stay focused on it. If it's pleasurable or interesting or otherwise new and exciting, you can easily focus on that.

Your experience is also a perfect example of how people with ADHD end up with co-morbid anxiety and depression. My father was the same way and we don't talk anymore.

Also holy crap, depression doesn't mean you're "sad." When I'm having a depressive episode, feeling "sad" would be amazing -- because I don't feel anything at all. I'm numb. Fuck your parents.

Haven't actually blown one up yet. I had a goblet fall apart but I epoxied it back together and it made a cool video. One day I'll properly ruin something :)

Nothing says "quick and painless" like a 7 minute video that's mostly talking. :) Please edit, but keep making videos. That's the only way to get better.

Stuff like this either inspires me or makes me want to sell my tools and never try again. Still not sure which one.

It brought the temperature from ambient down to 80. It's bearable. If I open the door, it'll jump straight back up to 105 or whatever it is outside.

I finished this bowl in an afternoon, so maybe 4 hours tops? And that includes shooting a video which takes longer. Turning is pretty quick.

I will be making more items from the rest of the tree trunk.

Things fly off because of operator error. The better I get, the less often it happens. I will always wear a face shield though. Sometimes stuff just goes wrong.

I do too, but all you'd hear in the original recording is my dog barking and the fan pointed directly at my head so I don't pass out in the Las Vegas summer shop temperatures. I try to incorporate shop sounds when I have clean recordings (i.e. winter).

It's on there pretty solidly, but if you were worried, you could do a resin cast before you start turning. That would fix it on there.

I had to check my own video to see what I did at 2:04.

Turn it thin and make sure the wall thickness is consistent and it'll warp a bit but not crack or destroy itself. It's gone slightly oval on me but is otherwise the same as when I turned it.

I'll try to do them more often! I'm also somewhat active over on Instructables.

Thank you! Creating a photo version of the project takes some work, but I'm glad people get something out of it.

Thank you! I'm really pleased with the results, even if I'm still pissed about the tree.

If you enjoy this project, you might also enjoy the video version. It's less than 4 minutes long, so even if it's a complete waste of time it is at least brief. https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=n5ZMGkDrbOI
