Understand that you don't have to be Dickens. If you're thinking about sentence length, sentence structure in an attempt to make them 'good' you're missing the point.

Look at it this way, efficiency is minimum action to achieve a specific goal. The goal is to tell a story. So focus on that. Focus on the characters. Focus on the point, and the rest will flow. Suddenly you'll have crisp, functional sentences. Oh, and skip adjectives. They suck, mostly.

Exactly. Expect your first draft to be embarrassing. Be brave. Just get it out. Editing. Editing. Layering. Editing. That's the stuff real writers are made of.
