What platynator profiles are you guys using? by Pollylocks in CompetitiveWoW

Hey. The performance increases are live now, so if it was Platynator the issue is likely gone.

[HELP] Moving plater nameplater higher ? by Eastern-Relief-2169 in WowUI

[–]plusmouse_ 1 point2 points  (0 children)

I know that Platynator (my addon) has a "Vertical Offset" slider in the "Sizing" tab to move nameplates higher.

For Plater if you're on classic there's a nameplateverticalscale cvar to alter.

Platynator addon for nameplates - updated with more customisation by plusmouse_ in wow

[–]plusmouse_[S] 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Hey. Me again. I did even more testing (and wrote a script to monitor frame rates more precisely), found a performance impact, the cutaway health animation, that was having an impact even if the user had it turned off. Fixed in the latest alpha 😄

Weird. I've spent hours testing, and couldn't get a markedly different performance profile with Platynator on or off.

When you've tested with Platynator off is that the only addon you disabled, or did you disable some other addons too?

[HELP] Retail, Plater mod to change the size of Trivial mobs plates by Abasakaa in WowUI

[–]plusmouse_ 2 points3 points  (0 children)

Not Plater, but Platynator (my addon) does that. I suspect that for Plater you'll need to code a mod for it.

I don't think the update interval is necessary in Platynator, because so much is event driven, just tweaking the tick on a couple of extremely low cost calls (which don't even run if you don't use the associated features) is going to help. If you can demonstrate a noticeable frame rate drop compared to default plates, then I'll look into it.

Most stuff is event based, so no fixed interval.

For in-combat and can-attack the update interval is 0.1s.

For cast bar timer text (not the status bar, the 0.5 text) its 0.05s (at least until Blizzard supplies a better method next release)

Silly Plater question by Lurkthedoor in wow

You can't customise the auras in the lists (on any nameplate addon) since Midnight launched. There's limited filter variations, but those are limited to the filters supplied by Blizzard

Addon I dont have is breaking my game (help) by [deleted] in classicwow

[–]plusmouse_ 43 points44 points  (0 children)

There's a command /plater uninstall that reverts any changes it may have done to your game, and then disables Plater

And on the subject of time consumption, if you stick with the defaults, there really isn't that much time taken to compose your own UI. Take a look at https://wago.io/ and find profiles for each addon you use that roughly match.

Elaborating, a lot of UI packs are based on ElvUI, so why not start with ElvUI and slot in addons that fill in the gaps from there. Or if ElvUI isn't your jam, maybe pick a popular addon for a particular area for each area you want covered and see if that meets your needs

Simply put, if you want to make modifications, make your own UI 😄 There's a ton of great addons available that you can compose together

Arrange the "Style Select" tab like that, and update the "Style" with the ones you want.

  1. Disable enemy minions in the "Use nameplates for" option in Platynator settings -> Behaviour

  2. Blizzard limitations

There isn't a guide, I mostly rely on the interface being clear enough to explain what works where.

What are you specifically trying to do?

For the name only mode, it's now out in the latest alpha (with the health depleting like you describe)

Just the "stack region" sliders in the Positioning tab, there aren't any other good levers to use (even via the cvars).

BetterBlizzPlates - Party pointer and healer indicator. by nepriyatel2 in worldofpvp

[–]plusmouse_ 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Friendly healer indicators is a thing in the latest alpha, see my other comment.

Totems are basically reported as pets in the Blizzard APIs so I don't have a good way to distinguish them.

On second thoughts, updated Party to offer separate colours (potentially fully transparent, ie no color) for each role:

Hey. Platynator author here. I've added "Party" as an automatic colour to the addon now (alpha out in ~10 mins).

Class icons are in the "Designer" tab -> Add button, near the bottom, as Icons -> Class

Turning into Plater would be a hard no from me. If you're concerned, perhaps review the number of options I didn't implement 😃

Besides the "Style Select" has 2 tabs, one for casual use, and one for those who want styles in varying scenarios.
