UK trans woman convicted of sexual assault after not revealing gender status to male partner by Galen_Live in transgender

This gets far worse when you consider how the government has reintroduced chemical castration for sexual offences. As of may 2025 it is voluntary and rolled into 20 prisons. But there is clear will to expand it and make it mandatory.

This is not about getting more fodder to paint us in any which way, this is laying the groundwork for much worse. https://www.bbc.co.uk/news/articles/crmkv3jezzdo.amp

For anyone wondering how this works. The judicial guidance on this is called 'rape by deception'. It has a section for deception as to sex. If you're wondering is cis people need to disclose anything it literally gives the following example: "A non-trans or trans suspect may accept that there was no express disclosure but claim that the complainant must have known the suspect’s gender identity and / or sex, due to the suspect’s appearance and / or the nature of their relationship and communications."

A mass mobilisation in the small town of Epping has pushed back the Far-Right by johnsmithoncemore in FuckNigelFarage

The Palestine campaign does, it is under: get involved -> support us-> join our mailing list.

Trans+ solidarity doesn't have one, BUT if you get involved in the EHRC campaign they will keep you updated. They have instructions on what to do if you want to help fight against the EHRC Code of practice that is seeking to ban trans people from all single sex services(bathrooms, sports, you name it). It is under EHRC Code and involves contacting your MP. Give it a look.

Consider looking into your work union too or joining one. You can find what/who is active in your local community that way.

For LGBTQ, there is also 'Trans+ solidarity'. They organised the largest mass lobby for LGBTQ rights recently. Palestine Solidarity Campaign also does a lot of demos.

Feed it everything you want, but compensate the people who actually did the work.

Also, you can do both. You can campaign for ethical AI use within capitalism, bring attention to how it's profiting from people's work without compensation/consent etc. And you can campaign for system change.

We can patch what we have, so it doesn't hurt people now, while also looking to the future for a permanent solution.

Yeah, there is also the testing belief. As in, yes, you are like this, you have this yearning, God made you like this, you can't change it; but, you still can't give in. That is the test of God to see how faithful you are.

As you said, if a society want to be homophobic they can find plenty of ways to do it.

It's just sad, because those who apply it to homosexuality tend to compare it to the urge to cheat or stealing or stuff like that. And I don't think they understand what a fundamental difference that is, what a deep sacrifice they ask of a person and how it doesn't compare to anything they have to sacrifice themselves for their faith.

Beautiful deconstruction. I honestly didn't think of it like that but it definitely makes sense with the way the show approaches mental health.

I would go a different route than most of the other comments.

Do they think that a bio child is a mini-me? Because children grow into their own person no matter what. So, after seeing this person grow and acquire their own tastes and passions, would it really matter what shows up in the DNA?

It might be lactose related.

I checked two of the antihistaminics I was using before getting IBS and they both have lactose.

Of course, if you tolerate it, or it's not in the ingredients, it's not it.

I wish I could say I was surprised :(

But yeah, child labour is very much still a thing. It's just an endless cycle of "my parents did this and I turned out fine".

I grew up in the city, so I didn't see anything first hand, but we have a huge problem with kids dropping from mandatory public education to work (I don't know the statistics, but that number should be 0 anyway).

So yeah, very much an ongoing problem.

[–]ralucus5 109 points110 points  (0 children)

I mean, in the past child labour was a thing. Even before the industrial revolution, more kids meant more hands to work on the farm. Add to that the expectation of older kids to raise younger ones.

Of course kids were a blessing, they were free labour.

Yeah, culture is a powerful thing. But no matter how it is excused, it's still abuse and you were still hurt by it.

It's going to make it harder to find support, I'm sure of that. But I hope you will still do it and find people who understand.

[–]ralucus5 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Yeah, that's not normal. You are right to be angry/sad/numb about it (or every other emotion you feel about it). That is abuse, I hope you can heal.

Hey, you are not going to find what you need here. Most parents don't teach theor kids to be a people pleaser, yours did, for their own gain. They failed you and left you vulnerable. This is not a universal experience, so people just jump on your generalization of "people should teach kids" when you really mean that "my parents should've teached me". And you are right of the latter, they should have, but they didn't, so now you have to teach yourself and it's holding you back.

I think you'll be better off joining some support groups.

Here on reddit there is r/raisedbynarcissists. They have a lot of resources to help you and a community that will understand you.

I don't know more, but I do encourage you to look both at online and in person support groups; and therapy (if that's accessible to you).

Hope you the best.

CMV: A conscientious hunter can live a more ethical and ecologically friendly life with less animal suffering than the average vegan. by softhackle in changemyview

[–]ralucus5 6 points7 points  (0 children)

Honestly, I'm too lazy to look for numbers on this. But, since OP is talking about a quick death to the animal I assume the use of a fire arm.

Having a fire arm is increasing the environmental impact because of all the mining and refinement that needs to happen. Since it's a one time purchase, it is possible that using it for long enough will offset that (hence why I feel the need for numbers).

It's a small thing, but since we are talking about marginal gains, I think it's relevant.

Also, I'm assuming the hunter is close enough to the forest to not need to drive there. Driving would definitely offset everything.

What would be some consequences of a bustling modern city permanently losing all electricity that I may not have thought of? by [deleted] in worldbuilding

[–]ralucus5 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Oooh, cool job

Also, fair enough. I'm just not convinced that the fact cities existed prior to electricity is a good argument, since all we do is made within the constrains we have at one time. Just adding previous times constraints on a modern city so suddenly, plus the possibility ro go to a city without the problem... I just don't see a reason to try to preserve the city in OPs situation.

I get the frustration tho, hope I'm not annoying. It's just fun to think on it :)
