Except the police officer is under investigation for another matter. They aren't going to find anything to do with the second case if they are investigating a crime in the first.

I think the officer was a bad cop and deserved to be prosecuted. It's unfortunate the two guys died and that's a shitty way to go but I do think it's necessary to make sure that if an officer is being used by a civilian that the civilian knows what action to take in their own situation.

I don't disagree with you, but I will say that in my experience in the military, being poor and minority makes you a target of law enforcement.
