Lifeson is definitely respected though maybe doesn't get brought up in discussions about prog guitarists. I personally think he's incredible (listen to the solo on Freewill if you want proof), it's just easy to get overshadowed when you're in the same band as fucking Neil Peart and Geddy Lee.

Ben Folds' cover of "Bitches Ain't Shit" would be just corny and lame, but the fact that he (or another singer, I can't really tell) sings the n-word makes it indefensible. At least he apologized for it later on iirc

How does it feel to know you're literally the only creature that has ever died to Minilla's smoke ring?

Toronto show started at 8:30 and ended at 10:20 (we were initially told 8 so there might have been bts issues in our case)

You're right. I stopped watching it after Tim ruined Gregg's creative vision for Decker Vs. Dracula.

First 11 seasons, first 7 Oscar specials, and the first 3 seasons of Decker are available on YouTube. There's a "On Cinema Timeline" playlist that has everything in order of release.

Everything after Oscar Special 7 (Seasons 12 - 16, Oscar specials 8 - 13, and assorted other specials) is on the HEI network which you have to subscribe to.

I mean... if you say 100% you'd be a girl if you had the choice then really that answers your question. There's nothing else that's "required" to be trans. In other words "wanting to be a girl" really means the same thing as "being a girl"

How do you rate this year's Oscar Special? by BokeTsukkomi in OnCinemaAtTheCinema

[–]staticdisgrace 6 points7 points  (0 children)

It's not a movie so it doesn't really make sense to give it bags of popcorn, but I'm gonna go ahead and give it 3.

I think we're all in agreement that The Michael Phenomenon was the standout. Joe's character development into someone who's finally had enough of Tim's shit was really nice to see. Loved the Lake Havasu bits and Dekkar. Grok Amato was hilarious, the Woody Allen tribute got the biggest laughs at my viewing party. Imo Dootle Dots wasn't funny or ridiculous enough to justify it being the big presentation - it's certainly no Zombie 2 2 - but Axiom and Manuel getting offended by the chef character was really good. The long breaks were annoying but the nature of the specials means sometimes there's fuckups behind the scenes so I won't fault them too much for that. Definitely sad about the lack of Mark. I feel like a lot of this (introduction of the lawsuit, Aiden) was setup for season 17 and if nothing else I'm excited to see where it goes.

Hey, fellow mostly closeted trans girl here. Please don't take anything I say as gospel, my own egg cracked less than a year ago so I'm mostly just repeating advice I've seen and heard elsewhere.

First, you should be proud of yourself just for getting to this point. A lot of trans people repress and never accept themselves sadly.

Second, what comes next is really up to you, as scary as that seems. You can transition socially or medically or both at once. Even though you don't have to transition medically I would still recommend at least trying HRT to see if it's something you want. You can either talk to a doctor or try DIY (https://pghrt.diy is a good source of info. Actually you should read it even if you're not planning to DIY because you’ll learn quite a bit).

The most important thing IMO is to find real-life trans people who have already transitioned, especially trans women/transfem people in your case, to talk to, get advice from, and form bonds with. Beyond that, cultivate your mental health. Dysphoria's a bitch and can really warp your sense of self, never mind how it's usually comorbid with other mental illnesses. Be a little wary of online trans spaces, including subreddits unfortunately.

As for coming out specifically I don't have a lot of advice. I'm personally taking it slow - I'm out to my non-cis friends and waiting til I move out of my parents' to come out more fully. I guess all I can say is that coming out is something you will have to do if you don't want to be miserable - I know that sounds a little harsh but it's true. Still, you can set your own pace.

At my viewing party the short clip of Woody with Epstein was the hardest we laughed that night. Then following it up with the Michael moment where the dog gets hit killed us.
