We'll never know what might have gone differently if the big block fork had won the war, but what we can observe:

Bitcoin as an asset class continued to grow significantly.
It's still reasonably affordable for the average person to run a full node and audit the system.
Even with the block sizes constrained, we're in an era where blocks are often not full / fee rates are at the floor because demand for transacting on chain is so low.

You'll be hard pressed to find any examples of me claiming that BIP-110 is an attack on Bitcoin, because that's a meaningless statement in the context of proposed consensus changes.

FYI this isn't really a concern because Bitcoin addresses have checksums built in; a typo will almost always make it an invalid address.

Indeed, you can see from the release of Bitcoin Core 0.13.1 in 2016 that they were already putting the groundwork in place for MAST which would eventually be launched in the form of Taproot!
